Rich Young Man at Gun Store

When I lived in the SF Bay Area, BMW's were known as "Basic Marin Wheels" and seemed to be the gift of choice to 16 year olds for their first car
Only if you lived in SE Marin.
I grew up in West Marin amongst the Portuguese dairy farmers.(Dolcini’s,Silveira’s,etc.) Most of them all drove the same PU their daddy or Granddaddy drove. And they NEVER threw anything away! Exploring the old storage barns was a hoot. When they started bussing us over the hill for HS it was a whole different world.
Of course I could cross the street go through my neighbors backyard to Papermill Creek and be fishing for rainbows anytime I wanted. Y’all can keep your BMW’s

My Father told me look out the Front window of our home. He then said what do you see ? I ran off a few things and He said No !!! I said then your Car ?? Bing Go. You have it Sun My Car. When you have Money you can get one. Now at 77 I remember well.

What's the point of this? To display your envy? It's one of the 7 deadly sins. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_deadly_sins
Judge ye not, lest ye be judged. That backfired huh? Also, the 7 deadly sins are not in the Bible, they were written almost 200 AD. So whats the the point of your post? The OP is just talking and starting a conversation. You know...like you do on forums.

I was wondering as well.

I saw a wealthy person.

Then a contest about who had it more difficult growing up……….
I hope envy wasn't the point of the thread. I think it was more about parenting choices.

Envy is bad.

So is flaunting.
So is raising spoiled brats of kids.

Growing up tough is fun to reminisce about.
Not very many of us really had it rough, compared to a few generations back.

I went in a local store in Tulsa today and in the parking lot was a VERY nice Lamborghini. Anyway I made it in, asked the owner for the scope base screws I was needing and jokingly asked him if that was his car out front. He just smiled. Next to me was a guy in his early 20's and had a stack of "stuff" in front of him. One NIB rifle, a Glock, probably 4 rifle cases, (and even the cheap ones are expensive there), several box's of ammo as well. Enough that it took both of them to carry it out. Guess what he was driving. Yep, the new Lamborghini. They said Daddy buys him a new car every year. Stores at 41st and Memorial for you guys that live in the area and know Tulsa. They aren't noted for being cheap. Must be nice to have that silver spoon.
heck im jealous

True this, and compared to my Parents & Grandparents, (Depression/WWII) I had it "soft".
As I was reminded on a regular basis!;).
As I mentioned to my soon to be 87 year old Mom, (who had me at the tender age of 16),
I really miss Ozzie & Harriet.

Might have been a little envy there. But not a lot. I joked with the store owner, said I couldn't even afford the lug nuts let alone the car. Heck I complained about buying a scope base screw for $2.00. LOL I'm to old for envy anymore. Maybe more envious that I was never well enough off to buy my kid something like that. But on the flip side, I'm not sure I would have bought him the car even if I could afforded it. LOL, he'd probably just wreck it just like all his other cars. No better than he drives a tank would be a smarter vehicle for him.
