Remington lays off 600, refuses to pay severance or vacation.

Reading the article Roundhill is planning to rehire 400. Roundhill can’t begin operating until they obtain a FFL which will take time.

The article says they plan to call back 400 employees. Said the new company needed to get a new FFL, assume it's a manufacturer's license.

Tough news. But unions are driving many companies out of business with ever increasing demands. New York is not gun or business friendly. Most union workers support democrats, democrats usually are anti gun and anti business. Union dues are sent to by a vast majority democrat candidates

If I was the new owner I would move to a much more pro business pro gun state.....its economics.....

I am terribly sorry for the hardships these families are gonna have to deal with though.

I would not assume that the Employees Union, plus New York, are "innocent" in the demise of Remington. In the case of Winchester for example, the company said that they could not meet union demands and stay open....they would have to close down. The Union said "You cannot do that."...that is a quote. The rest is history.

Tough on those who lost their jobs but they all knew this day would come for quite sometime. The new owners have taken a large risk. They should be and are free to make decisions in their own best interest. You can't keep kicking the can down the road as has been done in the past. It's just business. Profit is not a dirty word.

. .. . according to a union rep. Detroit- GMC, Ford, Chrysler - Hostess Twinkies, Remington. Union till the day I die. Truly hope Rem can get back up and going. Union or not.

Sometimes a fresh start is what is needed to get a company back on top of it's game. They acquired a company that was losing money. They must do whatever is necessary to gain a position in the market place. Being forced to shut down production is bad enough but to then have to abide by rules bargained for by previous owner is sometimes out of the question.

The new owners got next to nothing for their takeover. Most likely there is little inventory and even less raw materials. I don't see how they can be expected to pay the salaries and benefits of 585 people during the transition period. If it were me, I would be grateful I had a job when the startup begins.

Companies go bankrupt, because they aren't competitive. Remington has been producing an inferior product for years.

Well, most guys online lately haven’t been saying great things about their products, so do you guys that don’t buy their rifles anymore or brass think the employees deserve more pay? Just saying.

(Big Green fan since of age to buy first centerfire BTW 30.06 BDL).
