Seeing the steady decline of Remington quality control over the years I have to say that my "next one" will be a custom something. If you could still get the kind of 700 action that was found on late 70's early 80's stuff I would say to go that route. Even back then, the barrels were a 50/50 chance, but the action was pretty decent. Now, you can just go ahead and make a property line marker out of the barrel right off the bat. I wouldn't even bother to try and pawn that junk off on someone else. Even the triggers...40 years ago you could pretty much swap out a spring and adjust the trigger right on down to 1 1/2-2 pounds....I cannot understand how they can include the word "precision" today with a trigger that adjusts from 14 all the way down to 9 pounds!!!!
