I am thinking about building a LH rifle using a Remington 700 or Savage action so a gunsmith won't be needed to put a barrel on it. It would be a varmint weight 24" barrel in .243 caliber..
Northland has Rem-nut barrels and I would prefer a Remington action.
Where would be the most economical place to get an action. Northland wants $375 for a Savage which seems high to me.
How difficult is it to take a standard threaded barrel off an action and why is it more difficult to put one on than a nut type barrel? I assume the Remington action wouldn't need truing using a Rem-nut.
Used LH actions seem to be scarce.
Thanks.
