Remage barrel rechamber?

Call CBI and ask to speak to Josh. CBI is very responsive and has great customer service, I would be very surprised if they don't make it right for you.

I would, but this isn’t a CBI problem. The barrel was fine before the fellow marred it up. Even if they were willing to replace it, I wouldn’t feel right about it.

Thanks.

I'm not a gunsmith so don't have an opinion on it, in your experience, what are you seeing that throws up the red flags that the reamer might get damaged in trying to rechamber that particular barrel?
Carbon is almost as hard as diamonds. It hides in the groove corners and most times if a barrel needs rechambered its firecracked which also holds the carbon in. I will not use one of my reamers on a used barrel and try not to use a customer’s on one without trying to figure out another solution. The damage it causes is not obvious at first but it dulls the fragile leade cutting surfaces very quickly. The steel is usually harder in the throat area on a used barrel as well which helps to dull the reamer faster too.

What was the round count on that barrel? A used barrel is always a crap shoot.

I have a 28” bull, 6mm 1:8 twist CBI barrel that has a rough chamber and tenon face.
It shoots very well, but the brass is sticky to extract due to the marks in the case portion of the chamber and the brass has the indentions on the case of course. Not sure the cause and all is well on mine and the seller’s end.

Donate it?
Pay to have it fixed?
Sell it as a solar eclipse viewer?
Forge knives out of it?

Thanks.
:confused:Forgive me.
I had to reread the username to make sure this wasn’t me ‘cause except for the chamber issue it sure mirrors my experience with a CBI 6BR. An average shooter with a few eye popping groups, but horrible-flipping-extraction. I always suspected poor primary extraction as the culprit.
I’m considering removing a single thread and pushing the chamber forward 0.0625”.
Please share your decision just because nosy.

I just gonna hang onto it or sell it to someone if they’re interested in fixing/practicing. I’ve had some offers to rechamber but I sold my last Rem 700 action I had that wasn’t attached to a barrel.

Thanks
