Redding s bushing die

I visit the High Road Forum where many members pick up range brass with mixed head stamps also buy the once fired brass then complain of accuracy and resizing inconsistencies.

Save $$ By Using Lake City 5.56x45mm Once-Fired GI Brass

Accuracy Potential of Mil-Surp 5.56×45 Brass
"So, how accurate can previously-fired GI surplus brass be in a good National Match AR-15? Well, here’s a data point from many years ago that might be of interest. A High Power shooter who wrote for the late Precision Shooting magazine took a Bill Wylde-built AR match rifle to a registered Benchrest match. His first 5-round group ever fired in a BR match was officially measured at 0.231″ at 200 hundred yards. This was fired in front of witnesses, while using a moving target backer that confirmed all five rounds were fired.

He recounted that his ammo was loaded progressively with factory 52gr match bullets and a spherical powder using mixed years of LC brass with no special preparation whatsoever. Obviously, this was “exceptional”. However, he had no difficulty obtaining consistent 0.5-0.6 MOA accuracy at 200 yards using LC brass and a generic “practice” load that was not tuned to his rifle."

Just remember cheap bastards have more fun, and I don't cry if I lose a Lake City case.

P.S. If these people at The High Road would listen to F. Guffey and had magic feeler gauges they wouldn't have any problems.
(this is warped, sick old GI humor)

BoydAllen asked,
F.Guffey,
Do you write this stuff sober?

Boyd's comment cracks me up!!
I might have been intoxicated when I finally started to understand Guff speak.

I wonder if he was referring to a neck/shoulder bump die?

I have seen Remington .223 brass with .009 neck thickness variations.

And since Redding puts an expander in their bushing dies they must know something about neck thickness variations.

I'm not criticizing competitive shooters with custom made rifles who use Lapua brass. What I'm saying is the average reloader with an off the shelf factory rifle with average brass does not need a bushing die.

Did you say .0005 neck thickness variations with Lapua brass????

How are the dented necks related to neck thickness? The necks could very well be quite uniform, they’re just dinged. Straighten them out and then get out your pin mic., that tells the story.
