Recommendations for 6ppc build

Looking for a Gunsmith that likes building 6ppc's. I want to build a fast twist to shoot heavy bullets at long range. I have a Remington 600 action that is ready for a barrel. PM me any recommendations. Thanks

i know of no gunsmith willing to ruin their reputation building such a backwards rifle.
to be clear 6ppc is for lite bullets at shot distance 100-300yRDS

Not sure what your definition of long range is but given your stated parameters, the 6 Grendel is what I'd do. Twisted 1:8 and with the 80-ish bullets, it will hang right with a similar 6BR.

In a standard PPC case, it's going to be a tough rope to push. But much better than a 223...so there's that to use as a comparison.

As to a 'smith, your action will have some bearing on who may or may not want to take the project on. A lot is going to depend on the 'smith's evaluation of your total package, intended use and your expectations.

There are several threads on this forum where folks are doing the same thing.
The little PPC can push a 103 just fine, a 6 Grinch, or a 6 Grendel will push it a tad faster. I can say from personal experience that an 8 twist PPC throated correctly for long Bullets will drive a 103 plenty fast enough for 600 yard competition. N-135 and believe it or not, A2520 will get it done! It does not have the boiler room the keep pace with the BR or variants, but it can shoot small.

I salute your willingness to experiment and innovate. My favorite cartridge, 6BR, did not exist until someone was willing to do what no one else had done.

I commissioned a custom 6mm bullet for a special purpose. 125gr but short enough that I could adequately stabilize it in an 8 twist barrel. It worked quite well.

If you were in Arizona I would know who to send you to. Good luck.

I don't know why people don't think a 6ppc can shoot well out to 600 yards or so. In a fast twist barrel with a 105gr bullet the numbers say it can.

Brad, there's no doubt the numbers support that it can work. You didn't ask for a case recommendation and I jumped to quick by offering an alternative.

I have a Grendel and a BR but I have a lot of PPC brass and I think it is capable of shooting heavier bullets. I just need a gunsmith that is willing to put a barrel on an action and I will figure the rest out.

i do not sonsider 600 long range..it is the first step in long range br and 1000 is the next so when someone says long range i think 1000 or more..this is what happens when you do not define your goals

al haow many have you seen fininsh in the top three at a 600 yd br match ??

I understand you guys that have to place high or win a match. At this point in time I just want to build a gun, develope some good loads and go shoot. Can you think of a better way to enjoy your time?

Not while my pants are still on.

However, there are those hot july days where I debate removing my pants while on the firing line.

Give Fisher T&C a call. He specializes in putting barrels on actions.
