Just recently I purchased an item from a member that he had requested "public I will take it" and now this morning I see another seller "public I'll take it trumps all PMs"
I honestly don't understand why the "public I'll take it" is requested. Please explain. Any reasoning behind it?

Thank you

It means letting the “I’ll take it” be visible as a reply to the thread and not hiding in PMs.

It holds the buyer more accountable and it gives incentive to a buyer to agree to buy without contingencies because then they have assurance they’ll get it.

It’s only something I’ll do on well written ads by trusted sellers. If the ad leaves questions unanswered, I won’t make that post until they are answered.

I WAS recently scolded for posting "I'll take it". I was told it wasn't clear enough. SOOOO. to be very clear. " I'll take those 10 million 7mm 180 berger bullets, for $10.95 shipping included to my home address"
chuckshooter, consider the source. I look up the PITA and view their previous posts. I`ve found that the majority of the critics are just that. I think they lay under a rock until they see a chance to strike. Ignore is your friend. Jeff

The seller sets his "rules", like them or not.

Personally, the first "I'll take it" wins, regardless of whether by PM or posted on the thread, according to time stamp.

For various reason, not everybody want their purchases to be front and center, me included.

I like the “I’ll take it” posted on the Sale thread. That lets me know it’s sold and I’ll move on.
PM sent can be a “tire kicker”, low baller or a question. Given that, I’ve posted an “I’ll take it” for an item and gotten a seller response of “Sold by PM”. I respect that, too. The seller does what he does.

Honestly, I never thought it mattered.

It shouldn't. Members can sell to whomever they want. If the first guy to say "I'll take it" is on my ignore list, I'm not selling it to them - I don't care if they were first.

It does get awkward when people PM with questions, and in the PM volley someone else steps in with an "I'll take it" ... they should get it.

In the end, do what you want. You're the seller, you get to decide how you want to proceed. Add the complainers to the ignore list.

Yes, as rindael has posted, pm's can be awkward and confusing with some trying to lowball the seller.
I like to post; I'll take it. Trumps pm's. That way I will not acknowledge any lowball offer at all. If they have a valid question, I will certainly acknowledge them.

I haven't done a lot of selling, have bought a few things. I'll probably be posting a couple items for sale in the future. I will not post first "I'll take it gets it". I want to review and contact the buyer and decide then... Might be somebody who's interested that I would prefer. I have not read anything from the Forum Boss requiring such rules...

As a seller, you set your own rules (in accordance with the Forum rules of course). If you read all the seller rules, you really are the one that makes all the decisions.
