Question, James Spader, behind the back holster

Dusty, I had the same issue with my BHP. It was fixed with a quick online visit to Brownells for the Cylinder & Slide extended safety, then installed by my local smith. Problem solved for a total cost of about $125 for the safety, shipping and my smiths work.

The subject HP, don't have a pic (yet) of the new C&S safety.

I'm also a lifetime owner, user, carrier of the venerable 1911, and it is the most represented handgun in my safe. But if you love the 1911, then it's cousin the BHP deserves the same love, right?
Yes. I have much love for the bhp. Im wanting the new FN version

I'll be the first to say I never liked the HP. Even FN. realized it's shortcomings and their new HP is in name only a HP. But the shape of the slide is cool, and even that looks better on a 1911.

As for S.O.B, for me at least I don't see the point and there are much better options available.

Wait till you slip on the ice and land on your back. It's about 50/ 50 you won't feel a thing from the waist down...

Well, that would be applicable IF I wore my Galco SOB for anything BUT bench PD and squirrel shooting. Not much chance of slipping on ice in an alfalfa patch in April to June.

For me, the SOB does indeed have a place, but daily wear is not one of them. I'm fully aware of the shortcomings and benifits. My daily carry is a Kimber Ultra CDP .45 carried in a Milt Sparks VM-2. Happy now?

I was happy before.
Thanks for logging in today..

I believe it was on this forum someone asked about this. Does anyone know how to get a BTB pistol holster like the one James Spader wore in the TV series The Black List ?
I believe I've nailed it to being a Gould & Goodrich 806, which I've just bought. Check the location of the tension screw. There are other similar holsters, like the DeSantis SOB, but that one has curved belt slots. Look Up the 806 from G&G. For the Browning, you order for a 1911. Fits, but you need the tension screw.

That was a concern for me, but most of the pictures show more of a chance of damage to a kidney or hip/pelvis. Riding, I stick with a Muddy River IWB on my left side. I still have throttle that way, but I'm lefthanded so it just worked out in a positive way.

Nothing wrong with having your 1911 "locked"N"loaded, that is how I carried mine for years on the PD force and motor work.

ED I knew a limber jack that fell and the iron wedges he was carrying totally messed up his back, I think your assessment is right on.

First, tried it once in the small of the back, never again.
Second, a very good friend carried cocked and locked on his Colt Commander for close to thirty years with no problems. One day while packing up his gear from the shooting bench after practice, he heard a very loud bang and looking around saw his pistol sitting on the ground beside him, he then felt something running down his leg and realized that it was his gun on the ground and it had just shot him in his right butt cheek.

He threw everything in his truck and made it the 12 miles to town where the Doctor told him that Yes, he had shot himself in the ass. Needless to say he and everyone of us who heard the story have never carried cocked and locked since then.

Sounds funny now but he came within a couple of inch's of killing himself.
