Question, James Spader, behind the back holster

Greg, I see now where you were coming from, and 'yes' I totally agree that it's amazing the producers allowed Reddington's BHP to be carried the way virtually every one of us would carry it in the real world, and not succumb to the typical PC crap Hollywierd subscribes to.

No wonder The Blacklist is so popular....finishing up Season 9 right now.

In the OP's video, that thing is flopping around like he has a fish strapped to his back. Put it where you can access the darn thing. That and concealment is the whole point.

Glock G18
In the excellent series ‘ Narcos’ which has every weapon period correct as well as its operation ( that I can tell) you can see Don Berna firing his Glock G18 in full auto.
I always thought ‘media’ refers to the news. They very seldom get anything at all even close to correct regarding weapons. Movies I never thought of as media, and some, like Narcos, have obviously hired a firearms expert to insure the weapons are correct.
Is ‘media’ any form of communication or is it ‘the news’?
Anyway some shows do find it necessary to get it right. Then again some may wtf the viewers don’t know anyway.

I used to carry a 1911 cocked and locked and in a holster with a snap tab under the hammer on duty. A deputy once observed it and commented, do you realize that pistol is cocked. It took me a few minutes to explain to him how a 1911 works. No, it was NOT a 9mm :).

Was his Glock not cocked?

When i first heard of the Blacklist and saw it was James Spader in the lead role. I thought boy how is he going to make that work? But after a watched it a little I figured out he does an amazing job. The only think I can figure is it's just pure skill as an actor. Cause he seems more like an accountant than a crime boss.

then there is Nicholas Cage’s rig from “Face Off” for when one 1911 just isn’t enough.

I have one similar. It works great on a motorcycle at least for me because I can't stand a back rest on a bike. You just have to make sure your cover garment is heavy enough not to flap of secure the bottom button or snap. One of the few rigs I have found I can actually get to while on the bike as well.
You actually ride a motorcycle with a holster like that?

yes, and then some. many many years back i sold a 'small of the back' holster to a le guy. next time i saw him he told me it for sure was a s.o.b.
My pref is an IWB on the cross draw side. Makes sitting in a car much easier than appendix and conceals much better than OWB imo. Just mo.

I wish i had an easier to operate safety on my hi power. The factory one is hard to operate compared to a 1911

Dusty, I had the same issue with my BHP. It was fixed with a quick online visit to Brownells for the Cylinder & Slide extended safety, then installed by my local smith. Problem solved for a total cost of about $125 for the safety, shipping and my smiths work.

The subject HP, don't have a pic (yet) of the new C&S safety.

I'm also a lifetime owner, user, carrier of the venerable 1911, and it is the most represented handgun in my safe. But if you love the 1911, then it's cousin the BHP deserves the same love, right?
