Q RE Image Attachments with Photo Host logos

Is there a way to view pictures without seeing the word PHOTOBUCKET blockint half the picture? Am I missing something or am I being forced to pay them to see pictures on a public forum? Looking for a serious answer. Thanks.

Forum Boss: This is not an issue with 95+ percent of the images posted here. You have probably just been looking at an older thread where the Starter of the thread used images he had originally set up to PhotoBucket..

Photobucket is an outside posting site. If the original poster post a link to photobucket the picture is watermarked.
If pictures are posted here directly they should not have this watermark. Most direct posted pictures have to be reduced in size to be posted. When I post pictures from my phone I typically reduce them to 40 percent through a photo editor.

Hope this helps.

I don't quite understand what is going on because the pictures are being watermarked by photobucket, not the owner of the picture. Is my assumption correct?

post a link to the thread you are looking at...pictures are watermarked to prevent theft. I need to see what you are looking at...

Yes but only because those people (person) are choosing to use a service outside of this forum to post the picture. There can be several reasons for this but it's not all that unusual for someone to link to an outside pic service.
Here's what it looks like when you post a pic directly here.

pretty much all actual photo sites allow a person to auto watermark their photos (or not). Meaning the photographer can use their own watermark and apply it before uploading or have the service apply it, or simply enable the site's standard watermark which is what you're seeing. In this case they have it enabled, it's as simple as that. The viewer has zero control over it. If you were the person posting to photobucket and your photos were being auto watermarked, you could simply disable that if you didn't want it applied.

Just use the attach function. Click on the photo icon, then select an image from your computer or mobile device. I have a 2022 Android phone, and photos post fine. But if you have an iPhone at max Rez you may need to reduce resolution. FYI There is absolutely no need for a photo more than 1200 pixels wide.

We spend thousands of dollars a year on server capacity. You don’t need to use photobucket. But if someone chooses to post a photo bucket-hosted image, there’s not much we can do on this end.
