I have a really good idea, and he executed it to perfection. That's pretty nice. How did you finish the stock? Be as detailed as you have time for.
It started with a very diluted coat of black dye. Sanded that back and then a color called Ox Blood, which has a brown effect and sanded that back. Then four coats of burgundy dye, just a wipe down between coats and let it soak in. Then last but not least a heavy coat of red dye. The burgundy and red was not sanded back any, just wiped a lot with a clear neutral that blends it all together. Let the sit for a few days and went over it all with OOOO steel wool and then sealer. Blocked out the sealer and then the top coat of clear. The top coat goes on really really slick! Started blocking the top coat with 1500, 2000, 2500 and then buffing time. The dye used is Angelus brand leather dyes and the sealer and top coat is the Simtec system that @Bc'z turned us onto and if I ever get to Oregon or he gets to SC I owe him at least a dinner for!!!!That's pretty nice.
