PRS "What the pros use"

Dgd6mm,
What do you mean that your first barrel is your fire forming barrel?
I don't consider a case fire formed until it is fired from the barrel it will be used in.

Precision Rifle Blog does the write up after the season finale which is in January this year. So hopefully we will see something shortly after that.

If the chamber is cut with the same reamer it doesn't matter about the barrel being the same. Many people have a dedicated fireform barrel...

I'm on my 3rd 6CM barrel, I just use the burnt out one to fireform, one thing you don't hear about the 6CM is that it runs cooler than most 6's, 6slr, 6x47, etc.. Get 7-9 more shots off before it gets too warm to shoot.

What barrel length and twist for the 110-115 high BC bullets? Planning on 1000 yard F-class rig.

I don't care what you think and it hasn't failed me yet. Dave Bruno chambers my barrels. Still don't care....

For kicks today I grabbed a high mileage (4300+ rounds) 6CM barrel off the shelf and tossed it in my Accuracy International AXMC. I was also using brass with 10-12 reloads on it.

Using my standard load of 49.0 gns of H-1000 it still put ten rounds in 3/4 at 100 yards off a bi-pod. I was not going slow and taking my time for every shot, just plugging along.

At 600 yards it still holds about 4-5 inch ten shot groups with no wind flags or sighters. Just plop down and shoot it straight up.

At about the 3500-3800 point I start considering yanking the barrel off so it does not die in the middle of the shooting season.

Dave Burno and Mile High also chamber my barrels.

8 twist 22-27 inch barrels. Depends on what flavor of match I am shooting or what critter I am hunting.

I use a false shoulder method for fire forming. The "6.5" shoulder makes the bolt close stiff. I use short range matches for fire forming. 2800 fps vs 3000 fps, no biggie.

Does Mile High have the reamer?
Are you shooting the 107 and heavier bullets with the 1:8 twist?

243 is not going to be any worse than the other 6mn's burning almost the same amount of powder. I'm going to a 6x47 soon as the Mausingfield shows up. The majority of the guys that shoot at the club I shoot at are shooting 6x47, 6 Creedmoor, 6 dasher or the 6.5 versions. There are still the handful of 308 shooters, and a couple other odd ball calibers.
Yes it is, look up TP point or turbulence point. The 243 burns òut in front of the case in the throat. It helps wear barrels out way faster. Matt

Ill have to look that up Matt, I guess that is the large advantage of the comp match over the 243 with the super slow mag powders.
