Problem with Ruger 10/22 Sale

Have you ever been cheated by another forum member? I recently purchased a 10-22 from another forum member. Shipping was lengthy but that was USPS problems not the seller. Package arrived well packed. I arrived at my local gun shop about 15 minutes after package was delivered. I loaned my pocket knife to my dealer to open the box. First thing I noticed was there were no magazines with rifle, it was advertised with four. With paperwork completed I carried the rifle straight home. When I sat down at my bench with the rifle I noticed the scope and base were loose and moving around. I removed the scope and found the front two screw holes in receiver were completely stripped out. I notified seller who had good feedback by the way, that I had not received the advertised magazines and the receiver was stripped. He said the magazines were an oversight and he would send them. He sent three not the advertised four. Then he told me that my local gun shop must have stripped the screw holes while they had it. I related the events as they happened. His response was and I qoute "not my problem " Been buying equipment on site for years with great results. Everyone I have purchased from on this site has been 100 percent honest until now! Guess there always has to be at least one A Hole even on the Best Shooting Site on the ole interweb! Vent complete!

yes unfortunatly anytime you get a group of people there will be some bad apples. i- knock on wood- havent had any problems here so far but its just a matter if time i imagine. Id say this forum is one of the best though. Its just not a perfect world. On a good note -ihope- though academy sports just opened a store 30 miles from me. hopefully you can get ur 1022 fixed relatively easy. that AL should be easy to DT

Let the seller voice his side of the story and if he is in the wrong, then ban him. Some sites require all of the moderators to vote unanimously to ban. Problem solved.

Without any details, this thread is just one person's opinion and of little value to anyone. The seller, whoever it is, can do it again with evidently no repercussions. :(

I've been burned once. A used scope arrived with damage that hadn't been disclosed. In the add, the scope was posed at an angle so as to conceal the damage. When I asked him about it, he said: "Hey, it's a used scope. Send it back to the mfg and they will fix it under warranty".

Problem is, besides the deceit of the seller, the scope has long been discontinued and no parts are available.

I left negative feed back on his profile
Somehow....that feedback has disappeared from his seller profile.

I bought a night vision device that was advertised as "In the box". When I received the unit it was in poor condition. Part of the mount was crudely cut off with a hack saw. The lens was filthy and the charge cord was missing. I take a load of pictures within 10 minutes of receiving the unit and contacted the seller. He calls me a liar but can't explain the images. He knows exactly when the unit was delivered by USPS. We go round and round and he finally tells me that he loaned the unit to a friend who was out-of-state. He said that he never opened the box when it was returned to him but can't believe that it was in that condition, despite the photo evidence. After numerous back & forth emails he tells me that he'll think about it. The unit was totally useless to me, and I told him that I was shipping it back. I knew that it was takinga big chance but I had no use for the beat up unit. He waited several weeks before he refunded me but I lost the Priority shipping both ways. I was just happy to get out from under that deal.

If you are not happy with the product, ask to return it for a full refund. If he says no, I would get the boss involved asap. This is a deceitful thing and needs to be made right. The rest of us need to be made aware of the sellers name, so we can avoid a similar situation. Hopefully the boss sees this and steps in. The sellers attitude, based on his response, does not belong on this site. Period. All my transactions on AS, over the years, have been A+++ and I want it to stay that way. Just my personal opinion on this matter. Nothing more.

It is not hard to figure out on your own who the other party is. It took me a minute.

At the end of the day, it is one mans word against another, so what is to be believed? Both have good feedback. None of us will ever know the truth, yet some are quick to condemn.
The truth is what was posted. You're correct that it is one's word against another. Could I interest you in a nice 10 22 receiver?

Simple, post PM's sent and received, pictures of issues and PM's following issue. Let the forum members decide to do business or not with the seller. Personally I have had nothing but stellar results with this site. Even made some new friends in trades here.

You know it's not even the fact the receiver mounting holes are stripped, it's the "not my problem" that is so irritating. I've been a gunsmith for 30+ years so the repair is simple. Had the gentleman disclosed the problem I would have still considered purchasing the rifle. I was raised by a Korean War Vet a forward observer none the less! My father taught me the only thing you've really got is your good name. Some lack raising. Some are simply devoid of INTEGRITY!

My two cents worth...get an in writing guarantee that you can return the item within X number of days, your choice not the sellers. Receiving a not as advertised item should, in itself, warrant a no questions asked return guarantee. It is the sellers problem, not yours. Have I had an experience like yours, yes. It eventually turned out ok and I got a refund but not without being accused of being a "troublemaker" or something to that effect.

Most of us are too damn honest and too damn trusting.
That’s why scammers come around here, it’s also sad when one of our own are not forthcoming and trade their integrity for a few dollars.
