Problem With Garmin Xero Update 03/21/25

Here, it's about 2870 with 180s and 2850 with 184s. I'm not au fait with 30 cals.

Doesn't apply at all ranges in this country (New Zealand in case you hadn't figured that out) but it's the one that matters most to me.
Same here with the range limits. I find it useful to be able to isolate the consistency of my reloading from my shooting and the conditions. More information is never a bad thing, you can always ignore it, just another tool in the box ;)

Well, before you dig an even deeper hole, I'll give you the main reason I -need- to know velocity.

I'm an F-Open shooter and our National range has a velocity limit. Exceed that and you're immediately DQ'd.
Velocity or kinetic energy?
Majority of competition ranges in OZ have KE limits not velocity and that is why there so few shooting a 300WSM as it exceeds range limits….
Want to shoot that monster 22 or 6mm or 7mm at barrel burning velocity?
Knock yourself out… Some 7mm though, with the “heavy for caliber” bullets, float right at the KE limit…
Check out Kris Wilson’s utube videos {known here as “Willow”} and his current 300wsm F Open build, he discusses the issue.
Kinetic Energy I believe is calculated by weight of projectile x velocity.
Just about all 30 caliber magnums fall in this category.
Also have to deal with “no caliber larger than 8mm range limitations”….
SSAA currently working on a change to be able to allow more modern calibers {bore size & KE limit} to be used as the 8mm limit goes back to the first world war…

Both here, something like 3200fps or 3,300lb/ft of energy. There is then a high muzzle energy limit of approx 5160lb/ft on some ranges and a few extra hoops to jump through.

I used the Garmin yesterday. I do have the ap on my phone. I did not disconnect the Bluetooth. Everything worked normally without missing a shot. I don't know if the Garmin updated itself or not but so far, so good.
When you’re on your home page on the app, click on the Garmin unit image in top right corner and that will bring up your device. Click on that and it will tell what software you’re running on.

I'll take it every day over my old Labrador!
The Labradar is great. It's large so you'll never loose it and also makes a great sunshade for those harsh summer days. It makes sure you always have spare AA batteries around for that time you tv remote dies. It uses a really stout tripod that can double as a phone holder to shoot awesome videos. Way better than the garmin.

The best thing about the garmin, it took a bunch of sheep from labradar so you can get the labradar for $300.

I didn't think I needed A/C,cruise control, automatic headlights and electric windows but damned if they didn't convince that I did.
Does the Garmin have all that? Does your rifle shoot any better with all that A/C C.C. etc on the Garmin.
?
Then maybe I'm missing something if it does.
Does the Garmin come with a 100% money back guarantee if my rifles don't shoot better?

For me it's like catching a potential problem before it becomes a problem.
I can adjust loads at the range or at home in bulk. I can separate brass & find my screwups in reloading.
Mostly it's for initial development. After that it's maintenance & play toy.
If you don't want one, don't get one.....

I just updated to the 3.32 ? What ever the last one is. I'll see what it does sat at GMSA IBS match. Maybe I'll shoot all X's due to the update !

From previously owning the Labradar and purchasing the extra trigger as well and now owning the Garmin the Garmin hands down is the better of the two units in my opinion. I contribute this assumption due to the huge amount of missed shots, cumbersome handling, and simply what I found to be more aggravating than worth the effort. This is the reason I sold mine soon after purchasing it and vowed not to purchase another chrono until a unit was produced that afforded at least some of the differences between the two.
