Primer Depth Measuring Tools

I use a primer pocket uniformer every time to ensure the pockets are all the same depth, then use my Mitutoyo digital caliber depth gage to verify all primers are .002" below flush.

Seems to have been working ok for many years, but am I missing something by not using a dedicated tool for this?
I was going to suggest this same method.

The primer should be seated firmly to bottom of the primer pocket. The depth is immaterial. This is easily accomplished by feel using any decent hand held priming tool.
AND, running your finger tip across the case head (primer) will tell you if it's seated properly. Only problem is if it was seated HIGH when gas gun shooting.

This tool has worked out pretty well for me. It takes about 15 minutes to figure everything out, and after that, it's very easy to work with. You should probably uniform your primer pockets to make sure you are seating the primers all the same depth.
This is the tool tool buy…

I was looking into getting some kind of a tool to measure my primer depths. I use a 21st Century primer seating tool that does one primer at a time and I have to change the holder each time I change from PPC to BR (and others). I usually check the depth on glass to make sure the primer is not sticking out but I need something better. I feel that the Accuracy One measuring tool @ $100 would work. I then started googling this and found the one at Primal Rights and thought it looked nice. In a world of over priced stuff for shooting this item surprised even me. I am used to everything Benchrest being double what you think it should cost but this is at a whole new level of absurdity. Anyone know of any other tool that can tell me the depth of the primers?
The gauge is called the tip of your finger
run it over the end to feel for flushness
if blind people can develop a fine enough touch to read words from tiny bumps
we can feel if a primer is flush or below
-------
And yeah, what one other guy said, bottom out then slight crush

I finally bought the Rabbit Hole Precision gauge and I love it. This is my fourth try to find a reliable primer depth (and more) indicator gauge. Yes primer depth influences dispersion. From others and my own testing, a .001 crush is much more reliable and has lower SD's. You do you, but if consistency on target is your goal, pay close attention to your primers.

Why waste money on primer pocket gauge gadgets when you all already have one of these laying on your loading bench? ( hint- see the little dick thinggy on the right side?)

The difference in actual measurements between my caliper and dedicated tool is significant. Of course, that is me with my tools….
When I bought the Accuracy One primer tool, I was very surprised at the difference between measurements.

Maybe it was just me?

And when you get the RHP tool, you'll see another difference. It's the whole rabbit hole (pardon the pun) of 'trying to measure to 0.001" with a tool only accurate *to* 0.001" '... and no, just because some calipers show an extra '5' at the end of that doesn't mean they're actually reliably accurate to 5 tenths.

Do you set primers by depth or feel ?

Sometimes one way, sometimes the other.
My sense of feel is rather skewed. After 42 years on the end of a Pulaski, those ‘ol nerves ain’t what they used to be.
Needless to say, I’m in the learning mode.
