So can cars but at a certain point you sometimes have to cut your losses and move on. This one was nothing but heartache from the word go - a few years worth.

Find a new mechanic.

He did find a very reputable mechanic, who determined that the barrel from a reputable manufacturer was a POS, barrel was new but bought 2nd hand from classified ads with no original purchase receipt...

Everyone has a limit, I know there's been more than a few projects I've worked on that I was ready to buy, just so I could quit working on them and cut my losses and chalk it up to experience.

Thanks Brett. And as you know, the POS barrel was only icing on the cake. That rifle build went sideways at every turn. EVERY turn. I walked away after considerable money had been poured down the drain but I was developing ulcers from the endless kicks to the gonads.
