Still smiling even after having 5 teeth pulled!
Good evening to all! We have finally finished all of Jedi’s appointments and received all of the lab work results. We are overjoyed to share that Jedi’s CT results were all clear of disease and that his lab work was normal! His white count continues to be right at the edge of low normal, but both of his doctors assured us that this was not uncommon. Jedi has been able to fight off a few viral infections since his last scans, so his immune system seems to be doing what it needs to
We have a few post-cancer appointments scheduled for this fall. We’ll continue to check his heart, lungs and skin for signs of graft vs. host disease, and he’ll have more scans in 6 months.
We are thankful that Jedi is well enough to start some “normal kid” stuff like orthodontics. Before they can start placing hardware Jedi needed to have some baby teeth removed (7 to be exact). He was able to wiggle two out, but the other 5 were removed at the oral surgery clinic yesterday. The procedure went great and he is doing really well with recovery! I think that’s it from a medical perspective.
From a personal perspective Jedi is doing amazing as well! He just finished up his last session of gymnastics through the YMCA new direction program. Since Jedi was the first kid to go through the activity side of this program they filmed him doing various activities and interviewed him for a promotional segment. What a great opportunity for him to share the blessing that this program has been for his recovery!
Jedi and his brothers also had the amazing opportunity to meet the Davis brothers (twin basketball players from our town). One brother plays for University of Wisconsin-Madison and the other brother just got drafted by the NBA! They were so kind to come meet some of the oncology families and give the kids some autographed keepsakes. Jedi also got interviewed by the local news and was able to tell his amazing news of clear scans that same day!
Here’s the link to his interview:

Jedi has also participated in a few more Children’s Miracle Network outings including a local baseball game at the Logger’s stadium! Jedi got to throw out a first pitch, he and his brothers got to play a relay game on the field, and the CMN kids got to accept the donation check at the end of the game. What a fun night!
Thank you all for continuing to join us on this journey of healing! We are so grateful for your steadfastness in prayer for our sweet boy!
Blessings from the Schaller house
