Portable Shooting Bench/Table

Three legged works for me. Put this thing together 20 years ago and it still holding it's own. Whatta Hobby!

So like many here I ordered a set of the bench leg brackets from Lonnie

So I call local cabinet shop to get a piece of plywood--I go over to get it and he takes a look at Lonnies drawing design for the bench top and says I will cut that out if you want me to--Really??? I was headed home to attack it with a skill saw--he laid it out on a CAD screen and in less than two minutes had it done! So...maybe call your local guy before you buy Skill saw blades

The 3 leg works fine for me--rear leg is plenty out of the way--in the field and dirt it plants well and is steady as can be--These are a little heavy with double 3/4 in--I have one with a single layer and it seems to work just fine once planted --and it Way easier to toss around

I use scrap pipe--the stores will cut and thread free when you buy but a 10- ft piece was over $50 yesterday at Lowes--no way I will pay that but if you have too you still wind up with a great bench for reasonable loot pays to add a handle on it --they are a PIA without one

I also bought a kit and it came out perfectly. I bought a 3/4 4X8 sheet of marine plywood and doubled it. Then I put 3 coats of spar varnish on the whole thing. Works perfectly. A little heavy but stable and still movable.

I used a couple of pieces of 3/4" plywood and then screwed a 1x3 on the bottom for the Black & Decker portable bench to clamp to the top. Not heavy duty like a concrete bench, but not super light either. I like that it comes apart in 2 pieces and lays pretty flat in my truck bed and for storage.

20-25 years ago when I was using a portable bench for PDn I sandwiched a piece of pink construction foam between two pieces of 1/4" plywood to save weight.

I abandoned the portable bench for this setup on the box of my 6x6...total mobility. This the 3rd rendition with more to come.

I plan to add a platform on the front as well to be able to shoot seated.
