Pocket Pistol

Going back to the op's post, pocket pistol actually means that it will fit in your back pocket and be 100% covered. Or maybe a standard jeans front pocket. If it needs a holster of some kind, it's not a pocket pistol.
The two that work the best for me are a Kel-Tec P32 and my early colt mustang .380, anything else including my other .380 and a half dozen small 9's and a couple of 3.3 .45's really doesn't fit into the pocket pistol "niche".

That is for sure true. For me though I would never carry a pistol just in my pocket. I had a friend and customer that I sold a small Bordachowski to. He carried it in his pocket. It was always in the front pocket of his pants. One day while taking it out, it snagged on something and he shot himself entering the upper thigh and coming out just below the knee. After that he carried in a small holster.

A light open shirt over a pull over, covers my shoulder rig just fine and no problem getting at it.

I can draw from my shoulder holster even when sitting in the drivers seat of my car. Of course having carried since 1971 and never having to have to "Clear Leather" I am not all that concerned about it.

Most "pocket pistols" are NOT pocket pistols other than pockets in large jackets.

Ruger 380 and Kel Tec 380 just works for pants pockets.

Glock 380 is about the same size as a Kahr CW 9mm.

Thickness really matters, and under the duress of an attack, a safety can get you killed.

My favorite "CC pants" are 5.11 Tacticals. I find it quite easy to carry a Ruger LC9s within a pocket holster stashed in either of the lower leg knee pockets with Velcro flap secured down...easy to pull out without binding while sitting down or at a bar stool. Also, I find it easy to carry a full-sized, laser mounted, Beretta M9A1 in a stripped-down "Pro-Tech Outdoors" holster w/attached extra magazine pouch, no thumb-catch, shoved down in either of the roomy rear pockets, shirt-tail out and covering. (Expect to get some admiring glances from the passing ladies when so outfitted!;)) You may also find with this arrangement, as I have; with two extra loaded magazines in an opposite front pocket, that a good set of suspenders are in order when you've lost your hips.

My LC9s is carried in a DeSantis V5 pocket holster in front pocket. The holster keeps the pistol oriented grips up and protects the firearm from perspiration and pocket lint.

HK USP .45acp compact or a Colt Commander is carried in a Blade-Tec or similar IWB holster in cold weather under a flannel shirt. Spare magazines are carried on left side in IWB mag carrier. 50" waistline provides plenty of padding for IWB carry of service size firearms!

Ruf-N-Tuff Perry brand suspenders, which have "U" shaped clips that hook under the belt, are great for keeping things in place and last several years. The standard Perry suspenders are dress weight and don't hold up nearly as well.

That's what I use...the Ruf-N-Tuffs. Keeps your pants up.;)

Whatever you decide on, get one with a locked breech instead of a blow-back type firearm. The locked breech guns don't rely on uber stiff recoil springs like the Walther PPK, Bersa, etc., and are much easier to cock than the aforementioned arms.

My 365 SAS does not print; either in my Duluth Trading Fire Hose Flex, or "Comfort Fit", Farm & Ranch Store jeans.

I do not need any derogatory comments RE my "Comfort Fit" jeans from any one here who wears jeans in 34 waist or larger.

The all mighty fear of shooting something off that i have been carrying around with me for 71 years still makes me very conscious of reaching into my pocket, even when not carrying.

+1 for kel tek

Here is my pocket pistol, a Seecamp 380. I carry it in a holster that, when in the back pocket, hides the shape, and prevents any "printing". The portion of the holster that the gun is retained in is only attached to the back at the screws on the bottom. This allows the fingers to slip between the gun and the square portion of the holster when drawing.
This approximately 4" square one works well in jeans. I have another that is a little over 5" that fits Dockers or dress/suit pants. It is important the holster fits the pocket to insure the holster does not rotate in the pocket so that you cannot grasp the gun properly when drawing.

As you can see, the holster is showing a bit of wear, after many years of carrying, and 0 times needed.

Maybe I just had use of a poor example, the Keltec and seecamp I tried years ago, I could not hand them back to the owners quick enough.

Pocketpistol, SIG’s little 9mm is just a tad bigger than the 380. When comparing the two at the same time the 9mm wasn’t obnoxious, but I shot way better 7-15 yard groups with the 380.

Buddy just opened a shop a year ago. Hanging around on weekends and some through the week, it still just floors me when they determine what they will carry by cost.
Good for business as one guy has went through about four now looking for the best cheap one.

Another local shop this past Monday. Guy walked in found several boxes of ammo, went to the counter and said he would like a gun “these” fit.

I hear what your saying. Its kind of a circus out there today people not even knowing to put the pointy end forward are buying Guns. Thanks

I love my Seecamp. It's not meant for shooting, it's not meant for long range. The best ever-day-carry is the one you carry every day. Love this thing.

Ha ha. You wear girly clothes. :p

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I carry the Kel Tec - it happened to be the first in that diminutive size that crossed my path, and it has served well, as, I expect, would have any of the others in that size range. I carry it in a leather pocket holster of exactly the same as Snozzberries' photo above, and that style has proven great for my purposes; mostly it gets carried in my RF pants pocket - no identifiable print, just looks like maybe a wallet in pants where it prints enough that someone might notice it, but nothing like a firearm.
