I'd love to have a PM 1340GT, but I need to put a mini-split in my garage first! This thread reminded me I need to put a 230v outlet in place for down the road.I own a PM1340GT, great lathe and a great company(Precision Matthews) that stands behind their products. The 1236 is a good machine as well although if you can swing it go with the PM1340GT, it's well worth the extra money, the fit and finish on a 1340 is top notch. There is a noticeable difference in quality between the Chinese and Taiwan lathes. Feel free to PM me if you would like to discuss further or ask questions.

Did you been the Lathe yet?
The lathe is at the freight company now. I have to wait until Weds. Before they get it delivered the the house.
James passed away on Sunday. It's posted in main massage part of this forum.James, I am just curious how the lathe turned out? Pictures of any barrels?

From this chart and picture, you can see I can make 16 tpi this mourning, without getting my hands dirty. What do you mean you've replaced the change gears to get from 12-16TPI? Stock your 1236 supports the full range of imperial TPI threading (albiet with some end gear changes). What needed replacing?
