Ordered New Lathe - Updated

National Electric Code

The Conductors (Wires) need to be sized at 125% of highest load rating.

You mentioned 8 or 10 ga wire is what you have, #6 wire is larger. The smaller the number, The bigger the wire size. A single phase input VFD will require more amperage input. As you can see they used a 15hp inverter, I figured yesterday they used between a 15 and 20 hp inverter.

Now I am thinking #6 and a 50 amp circuit is marginal.

I see you did post this in the gunsmithing forum. I am interested in your old Arca. Will be following.
You are about 5 hours away and I am capable of rigging and moving

My current lathe, that will be for sale, is an Eison 1440EV.
But yes - let’s chat. If you want, we can arrange a time for you to come see it running, and see everything that will be in the package deal.

Oops, I will do some research on the Eison.
I have zero machining expirence, but have spent probably 15 years trying to talk myself into it.
Now retirement is on the horizon and I have decided I need a lathe and a mill before I retire.
It will be great to be able to do my own barrels
Please keep us posted or message me when you decide a price and what it will include

Here is my current lathe and accessories that will come up for sale when I get my new lathe. It will be at least 90 days to get to the US, then delivery to millwright, then delivery with setup to me.

I haven't figured out a firm price yet, but this is everything that's going with the lathe as a package. If I am unable to sell it as a package, preferably to someone just starting out, then will I be willing to part stuff out. So far, John6 has shown some interest so I will work with him initially. If he decides he doesn't want it, I'll post it up here.

Sounds like a nice machine and setup.

I watched the auto retract threader, pretty cool idea. Can you post some muzzle threads you’ve threaded using that tool?

My concern with it would be rigidity, I get chatter that shows up in my muzzle threads if I use the compound to advance my tooling. If I lock down the compound and advance my cross slide, it reduced it a bunch. Where I could use a thread file, use a cratex stick and maroon scotchbrite and then you wouldn’t see it. Then I bought a stick of the Beolube tube and it completely eliminated it….no more file but do hit it with the stick and scotchbrite but I’m not working at it, just gives it that great finished look.

This was done with the auto retract threading tool. This is a 45 caliber smokeless muzzleloader, and his deer with it.

It was suggested that I post this in this forum sub-group as well.

I have ordered a new lathe. An Acra 1740TVS-3. The bad news is I'm going from BXA to CXA. I have A LOT of holders, and 2 different quick release tool posts. One is an Aloris, and the other is a knock-off. I'll also be going from a MT-3 to an MT-4...
So.......... I will be selling my EISEN 1440EV Precision Lathe and MANY accessories for it. I'm thinking of offering everything as a package deal at first, (read that again) so basically someone can get pretty much everything they need, minus tools and inserts, for about the price of the machine alone - Not too sure what that will be yet.
The lathe is only a couple years old and works flawlessly, now... I posted a vid not too long ago on taking an alignment cut on it recently. I only had ~0.0001 deviation over 10" taking 5 thou cuts.

More to come in the near future.
Lathe is located in SW Wisconsin, near Spring Green.

If you know anyone looking for a Taiwanese variable speed 14x40 let them know please.

I am not selling anything right now - I am still currently using it for my gunsmithing business.
At work, they never "order", they go to a used machinery dealer and buy someone's used "cast offs", you know, the kind where you find gouged up ways, broken feed handles, etc. Good for you! Enjoy not having some used up junk.

The EISEN 1440EV Precision Lathe is the same lathe as the PM-1440HVT-2 from Precision Matthews. Same headstock length, but different spindle bore, and it comes standard with the cast iron base.
PM has 2" spindle bore, this has 1 9/16" - a 5/8" isn't going to make any difference unless you're doing a lot of large caliber ELR type rigs, but you're still not going to fit an action with recoil lug into it. Need over 2.5" in order to dial in the barrel at the muzzle (With receiver and recoil lug attached) - With a TBAS anyway. You may be able to get longer barrels in the spindle while still connected to the actions with in and outboard spiders. I don't like those though as they can introduce flex and stress in the item you're machining, the TBAS eliminates all that.
