No doubt it's a situation where it's hard to recoup ANY of your time and money spent in order to get them to the level that they need to be for serious work.

Opinions of an American made Clausing 4913 10"×36" lathe for basic threading and chambering ? From the pictures it looks to be in good condition. Value ?

Any 10 to 14 swing with 30 to 40 inches between centers threadcuttin lathe will do gun work. A used but not worn out lathe like this is worth maybe 2000 to 4500 depending on the condition and tooling with.

I believe 1 3/8" from my research. It's a five hour drive away and $500 more than I want to spend so I'm stewing on the idea some. I'm not sure if it's what I want to jump on.

You are correct. My first opinion was that this machine was to small. I am stubborn I will admit. Then I started really playing with the machine, giving it a fair assessment. The more I use this new SB heavy 10 the more I fall in love with it. In fact I will own a second machine before long. These are truly wonderfully designed machines. lee
