PDog Safari 2024 aka: Doc and Taylor's Excellent Adventure

Well alright then=
PDog Safari 2024 got off to a "Booming" start= as we left Middle TN. We encountered Tornadoes and Winds up to 70MPH
straight line winds when we were only 100 miles from home in Clarksville TN. Total one way miles is about 1,200. to
PDod Fields= just a
Sunday stroll=LOL We were Blessed with no accident. Pulling a 5X8 ft UHAUL trailer loaded to the Brim with
8 Rifles and all support Gear
It was Ole VolDoc's 20 th trip PDoggin' and Taylor's 3rd.. He put on a "Shooting Exhibition" like I have never seen before.
We arrived and set up shooting the 1st day with 25-30mph constant wind and gusts to 40MPH. Was so bad we had to set up behind my Truck just to keep Gear intact. We shot all of that day off of Tripods. Tables were useless. Pu[ps were out in force
and Taylor pulled out his 22 ARC AR.. I usually despise AR's but after seeing him dispose of several 500 yders , I may be changing
(a little) my attitude=

More to follow (Maybe) LOL
thanks VolDocP1.jpgP2.jpg

Weather looking good in those pics!
First trip for prairie dogs for me was in 2000. For several years I went with a friend twice a year.
It was easier then (younger) to make the twice a year trek but somehow has gotten to be a chore making the far western drives we make these days.
We could find hundreds of shooting spots in the TX Panhandle back then but the accessible towns seem to have dried up for us.
Soon to be off on my next adventure and looking forward to it.

Doc, were there any 1,000 yd plus shots???
We need details!!!!!
20th trip. Who took you on your first adventure and hooked you with this life long addiction?????

Awesome! Hope your time turns out great!

I am enroute to Wyoming as we speak. Left from eastern Pa and am currently holed up in a sports bar in South Dakota for the night. Will finish the trek in the morning and be shooting dogs by tomorrow afternoon… hopefully. We will be there till next Thursday and then the very long drive back. Ugh!

IMG_8577.pngIn Colorado Voldoc jumped ahead of me in the 1,000 yd kill count and I didn’t have any long range 115 Berger Dasher rounds loaded. So I set up my press on my shooting table and load 20 rounds. I hit two 1,000 yard dogs out of 12 shots and told Doc lets go home.

Well alright then=
Day 1 was super windy however the Pups were out in forcBig Time #'s
and somewhat eariler than usual. But we didn't mind=
Birdog said Ole VolDoc was a 76 Year Oldster trying to be
a 36 year Old PRS shooter and He knows of what He speaks.
Last year Ole VDoc went all 1st Focal Plane with all his Optics.. Big Change but getting to like it better every day. Taylor is my (we call him Adopted son) but He's just really one of VDoc's
bestest Young Buds.. Taylor shot the new Hornady 62 ELD-VT ammo in his AR new 22 ARC
it was like a Lazer of Death

He will reload for 22 ARC now that He has Brass from the trip shot as Factory Ammo (Expensive)
We killed many PDogs that day holding off for windage = some 300 yd shots had 4 MOA for wind
More to come if ya'll want more
thanks for tuning in
