PD shooting setups

This is what we used last week in Colorado.

All my pdoging is done from my bed.
Bench swivels 360, can set on ground if needed, but I like being above them.
I also don't spend all day in 1 spot.

This was my 4runner set up when I lived in CA and shot beldins up in Cedarville at a friend's farm. Bench in receiver hitches, top rack holds 3 shooters.
This was before liberals and crybabies forced the DF&G to clamp down on shooting from vehicles.

The Prairie Schooner. Amazon picnic table leg table on my ATV trailer. No wind hence the umbrellas. Easy to shoot either way. You can squeeze it into the truck bed and go without the trailer but it is cramped. When I go alone, I use a rotating bench in the truck bed. My radio antenna is 6 inches shorter as a result ha ha. Still works fine.

I've got the Caldwell rotating bench, it works great as long as we don't need to lug it more than a coupe hundred yards.

We just got back from Fort Pierre, the dogs are very shy there so after a VERY short time shots were long. Most places made no sense to set anything up. We killed more dogs by strategically stalking with ARs up over hilltops, shooting suppressed where they couldn't see us. That was the only was to get sub 400 yard shots.

So lots of shooting with a Harris bipod....hoping our old honey holes in WY have come back from the plague where we could get lots of 300 yard shooting off a table.

If a town's been shot some, moving the vehicle out of sight and shooting into the wind will help reduce the shooting distance.

This set up was on my Jeep tow bar many years ago, always on private property. I don’t know about current laws as far as shooting off a vehicle.

Touché. I have no idea if/where this would be allowed these days, but works well when you're shooting in the flats and need some elevation gain. A bit overboard of course, but technically it can detach from from vehicle. All gear and tables are strapped into position, allowing for moves in a minute or 2.

We like to stay mobile, using UTVs, with racks on the back to quickly load and unload swivel benches.

A WOA 204 AR, 6 creed on a tikka are for the bench, cz 527 17HH is my walking PD rig. Want to build another for the bench in either 20 practical or 22 BR or both!

I find nobody walks, so I can do very well getting a ways off the road. I walk fences and shoot off the posts or bring a little chair and shoot from sticks. Stable table is a pain. I set it up morning and evening. I walk during the day. I need to build a bigger top. My guns are nearly falling off .

Same setup since 1997. Works perfectly, plenty of room for rifle, rest, ammo, optics and support for your shooting elbow. Engage the rat within a 300* arc in complete comfort, steady enough to shoot as far as the caliber of choice is capable with the shooters weight pre-loading the assembly for total stability.





On the subject of Caldwell's Stable Table.....when I sold the BRP patent to them and saw the el cheapo version they brought out, I flatly told them the silly plastic table top was a bad idea, and it was much too small for the intended purpose. Didn't listen.

Yep, we replaced the tops on our Stable Tables after the 1st outing. Either the front rest or the back bag kept falling off. Replaced mine with 1" cabinet grade plywood with formica top cut to a proper size and later added thrust bearing to center stem/base interface. Works better than any fixed table top we ever tried, particularly when the dogs are plenty and the shooting is fast. So easy to swivel the top with your feet -- gets to be automatic after a while. Really handy when scanning for dogs. Just turn down the scope power and use your feet to move the table from side to side. Took the spikes out of the front rest and it slides easily on the formica for finer adjustment. 2 of us set it up in about 3-4 min. (about 1-2 to take it down), which is handy when doing multiple set-ups a day on small towns. One of 3 best improvements I've made to dog shooting equipment, along with rangefinder binocs and .20 caliber rifles.

We shot off of these tables this year and couldn’t agree more about the plastic tables, way too small. I couldn’t get my normal set up to fit on it, had to use a large v type bag. E

Couple weeks ago friend and I took a 3 hour drive for the day in hopes of finding some dogs
Had a great time but man that July az heat have to make sure you have plenty of water.
Next time taking a cooling towel for my neck and barrel lol
I cycled between 20 tac, 204 ruger and my tikka 223.
I was really impressed with the tikka and the 40g noslers.
The 20 tac was just as impressive as it was it’s first outing since I acquired it
