PD shooting setups

My old friend used a wheelchair that he modified to "walk" through the towns.
He modified the seat and removed the back canvas so he could sit "backwards" . Then he made a table across the handles for his rests and ammo along with a mount for an umbrella.
Worked pretty slick.

This Caldwell table has been improved by adding a bushing made from a powder bottle to the pipe that fits into the base to get rid of the wobble. That made it a whole different table. The boat seat improved the comfort of sitting for several hours. I have also added a golf umbrella with a wind dump that work’s until the wind gets pretty brisk.
I would not go back to a non rotating table.
Thats so sweet! I been thinking of a better seat and larger top for the stable table. The seat, even with an additional thick pad, hurts and makes my junk go numb within 20 minutes. My bipod on some longer chassis is within a half an inch of falling off the table too

How did he get into/out of the thing?

First 2 are from a few years ago....
Second gun is my current.
Both are 223's shooting 53 V-Max bullets at 3250 fps.
I had planned on replacing it with a 22CM or a 6mm CM but ran out of time to get load development and 800 rounds loaded.
The current gun has a GPS verified 835 yard kill shot.
My best friend Pat. His family owns the 2400 acres where we shoot PD's.
All that acreage and we have shot from the same position for 15+ years.
Sadly Pat passed away in 2021.
His family has become my family and I still shoot here to this day.
Leaving in exactly 1 month.
3 of us average well over 600 dogs in 3+ days of shooting.
The PD's are everywhere and were not touched by the plague.
Located in the Dakotas.

And NO I will not give you directions.....:D:D:D
600 apiece?

600 apiece?
No...usually 600+ for the 3 of us.
We have had totals approaching 1,000 HOWEVER we are not as serious about it as we were a few years ago. A lot more shooting the BS nowadays.
In the past, we would shoot basically nonstop for 7 to 8 hours.
The bottom line is that there is NO shortage of PD's to keep us entertained.

Portable tables are simple to build

Rip a piece of 3/4” plywood in half 2’ x 4’

Trim to 38” to 40” top

Glue/screw these two together

Find some 1 1/4” threaded black pipe sleeves…cut on 15* angle

Weld these to a 4 x 4 x 1/4” plate

Find some pipe legs. 31” long along with some pvc caps for the bottoms

Cut plywood top for L or R shooters or both

Optional sun umbrella mounts if wind permits

Several ways to skin the cat....cut your plywood to whatever size that suits you, & screw on some folding table legs from Menards. Stagger the legs so they lay flat.

How come nobody has mentioned DOA shooting benches? I use one and it's very stable and has lots of room on the table top. I'm 6'3" and had trouble finding one that didn't crowd me and get me all bunched up.

If I used one of them by the time I got it set up my buddies would have already shot all the dogs in range and moved on to greener pastures....LOL.

Two person gun stations...

We try to keep it simple. Can flip the shooting bench upside down and put it in the back of the side by side. Set up is a couple minutes. Need to come up with a way to carry more guns. Just haven't worked on that part real hard.

Just wondering if a bunch of you guys would be willing to share some of your prairie dog setups and ideas

Here are some of mine but I did see a couple of new ones that I'm looking at trying
The OPs first pic sums up my setup pretty well with the exception of the rifle. I'm currently using a Savage 12FV in 223 sitting in an Oryx chassis. We move around a lot in the field (ie shoot some, walk 50 yds, shoot some more). Most of the time I'm standing up shooting off the tripod, but if I need to reach out past 200 yds, I'll sit in a bag chair. I've always been surprised at how stable everything is when shooting that way. Almost as good as prone, and I'm up high enough to see over any vegetation or terrain that's in the way for prone.
