Past rifle selling regrets, "I never should have sold my...."

We've all done it, what rifle did you sell that you now regret ever selling?

Mine was a mid/late 70's factory custom shop 700BDL 22-250 with a full bull barrel and a Jewell, Kesselring quick release base/rings, and an 82-83 model year Burris 6-18x. if I remember right that was a 350+ dollar scope in the early 80's.

I don't regret selling any of them. Scout's honor, I was glad to get them to other people who would enjoy them more than I was. That's still the case, but I think hard before I sell stuff, to avoid seller's remorse.

If your question was "what do you regret buying?", then I have a laundry list of things, from houses to cars to even a few powpow items. ;D

A pair of 92 winchesters , both mint , paid $25.00 a piece for them , sold them for $100.00 .that was around 1959 or 60 :-[ just a dumb kid mistake but still spites me to this day.

I count myself lucky, I've never sold a rifle. I always joke that I'm strictly "in the business of acquisition". The only guns I've ever sold were two S&W pistols that I bought for the wife and I. She never liked hers, and I was already in love with my Browning Hi-Power. So when the time came to build an AR, I dumped them. Threads like this make me want to hold on to my stuff even more, for fear that I might regret it down the road.

Sometimes you need the money fast. On the bright side the 700 got sold to a good friend, on the negative side I got a lot less money than I could have.

Absolutely it's my m1 Garand that I built myself from a CMP receiver. , 308 barrel, laminated stock, NM sights and bedded it and screwed and glued myself.

Sold it a Dallas gun show. I would pay bucks to get it back..

I regret getting rid of every gun I ever had and mostly the ones I built.

I sold an m1 carbine chambered in 5.7 johnson spitfire. Melvin johnsons company did the conversion to see to the military and police depts. However I sold it to one of the premier m1 carbine collectors who has written 5 books about them,he has the first one that winchester made for trials.

I have never sold a gun yet! Had a guy want to trade towards a mill the other day though. I just dont think I can do it!

Wish I still had my Springfield M1A. Never liked the gun much (mediocre accuracy, crude sights, hard to mount scope, noisy brake), but it would draw a pretty penny in today's market.

Winchester 94, sold it to a buddy. I could keep 3 rounds inside 1 1/2"@ 100, with open sights, and under 1" with scope. 30/30's ain't supposed to shoot that good.

I sold a winchester model 88 when i was in my early 20's for $175. it was a 243 and shot real well with sierra 100 gr game kings. regret it every time I think about it. the only other gun I regreted selling was a bicentenial ruger super blackhawk 44 mag. bought another one latter but it wasn't as accurate.

I cry every time i sell one :'( :'( :'(, But i just go get another one to replace it ;D My wife says i have a problem, But what does she know ::)

I had a 03 springfield rechambered in .308 norma, when I was a kid in pa. Now I live in wyoming and am one elk gun short of perfection. I traded the gun to an uncle how moved around abit then died in vegas. I wish I knew where that springfield is. It had a fajen stock on it and was comfortable to shoot................

Mine was a late 70's vintage Rem700 in 30-06. It was a pawn shop find but that thing would group quarter size groups at 200yrds with factory Rem 165grn ammo.
It absolutely was 1 of a 1000 that turned out right and it harvested alot of game.

Those that don't believe that starving students exist, have never been students.

A Mark V WBY with Sauer 26" barrel purchased in 1964. Used to take a B&C Stone Sheep. Should have kept it and just remembered the hunt, especially now that I'm 75 and could't make the hunt anymore.
