Past rifle selling regrets, "I never should have sold my...."

I have sold a marlin 336 & a savage 24 in 222 magnum/20 ga. That I shot my first deer with. I have started regretting selling the savage as wright this.

I also want to say that I am thankful for this thread as I was going to put the majority of my rifles up for sale.now I have decided against that, thankfully.

This thread has brought back some memories for me. I made a list of all the guns I remember selling and I'm in my 50s. I realize I sold more than I originally posted. The only two I really regret selling we're the hk93 and a
Smith 629. I still have all of them that have some real sentimental value though
I'm sure happy I do

Many years ago a local shop had a nice Remington 513T that the owner wanted too much for but wouldn't haggle. A friend told me I should take something to trade. I gave the owner a choice of an excellent M1917 or 1903A3 and he took the '03A3. Now, I didn't have $150 invested in either of those guns but I think I'd have done better down the road by holding onto the '03A3.

What I regret is that in the early '70s I had opportunities to buy M1 carbines and 1911A1 pistols for about $50 each but didn't have $50.

I guess the easy solution would be to never sell any of your guns! That is what I do or rather don't do, I am in the market of buying not selling, if I was I would have a gun shop, there are many guns I regret procrastinating on and someone else bought it but I can't say that I can ever recall selling one at all, I have multiple safes full of them and every corner of the house and gun building is full of them, I get digging sometimes looking for something and find guns I forgot I even owned. I had a 350 watt bi-linear amplifier for a ham radio and a friend had a big bore 94 winchester that he wanted to trade me for, I traded him, a couple years later he wanted his 94 back and as a favor to him I did the trade, it was a great bear rifle, I don't really regret it because we were good friends and still are but I would way rather have the rifle then the Amplifier that I know longer use.

Well I had a Hopkins and Allen falling block 22 I found in a junk barrel at an antique store. It had an octagon barrel, venial sights. cut checkering 26lpi? and a magnificent piece of wood. Shot extremely well. Might have been a POPE gun my dad said. Sold it to move to Texas along with a 1950 S&W target and my Kawasaki h2. I am still longing for them, I miss them dearly. I miss mom and dad too.

H2 eh? Most of the H1's ended up in junkyards, totalled. Nasty piece of work, no brakes, no handling, all power, all at once.

The stock pipes on them weren't tuned at all! They ran like snot until you got them revved up and by then it was all over but the crying! I know of a few around my area and they are mostly collector pieces, never ridden!

That's what I mean, nothing......nothing.....wait for it........BAM! In the ditch, or a hood ornament. 'Peaky' is a misnomer, 'sledgehammery' would have been a better description ;)

Ha! Remember the 750 Triples? You practically had to tie a sandbag around the triple-fork to keep the front wheel on the ground. Talk about torque-y!

I had a 900 triple Kawasaki I think it was a Z1 maybe it was early 80's really would run, I had a GS 550 and GS 750 Suzuki they were 2 stroke triples but the big two stoke Kawi was really fast, it had no suspension to speak of and handled like a tank but in a straight line it would really run, I think the GS 750 was a lot nicer riding bike as I recall. I hit a bumble bee on the GS 750 one time at well over 100 mph and it took the lense right out of a brand new pair of ray ban avaitors >:( :'(

Speaking of the H2 triples. I mentioned yesterday that I know of a few around well, 2 of them are within a 2 mile radius of where I live and one of them is pristine! Probably one that GrocMax didn't ride lol ;)

I’ve sold and traded in a couple handguns that were all current production, commodity type guns. CZ, Sig, Glock.

Never sold a rifle. I only own a couple though. My safe only holds a few long guns and I don’t feel like a bigger one or another one.

I sold a Ruger Hawkeye revolver (single shot) for 150.00 because i needed the money. it is worth north of 2500.00 now...256 win mag

Many years ago I sold a kimber .22 hornet that I wish I still had

Few years ago I sold a 6br bench gun. It shot so good and I got all I was ever going to get out of it so I got bored with it.and let it go . Now I just have to have another one. Load development starts anew. Of course load development with a 6br can be pretty boring.

Getting to close to 50 years of acquiring guns. Have traded and sold of few, but mainly they join the family. Did a quick count in my head of the guns I have sold and only one that I ever regretted. Don't laugh, it was a Browning A5 light 12. Yes I could have bought another one many times, but I still miss it. First shot gun I could shoot respectable trap scores with. When my sons were just starting to hunt, I was at a local gun shop looking at shot guns. Got talking to another fellow and he sold me a light A5 Belgian made shot gun 20 gauge with an IC choke and 2 sets of stocks, one set shortened. Some how the shop owner found out and was not real happy with my deal, we still do business and are friends. Don't know how many times, I have said it's not for sale, regarding guns I own. At 64 I have about every thing I ever wanted and 3 safes to prove it.

On the day this thread was started I turned 61 I am now 68. You think a new thread could have / should have been started.

Mine is a Remington Classic 25.06, if I had a rubber leg I'd still be kicking myself. Fortunately I purchased a Rem CDL 25.06 shortly after to ease the pain. It's a nice rifle and I love it but I'll always miss that Classic.

2: strangely I bought them on the same day.

BSA Majestic (the one with the bolt shroud mounted safety) in 30-06, euro style stock, integral muzzlebrake, integral scope mounts.

Voere Shikar on 30-06, 3 lug bolt looks kinda like a weatherby.
