You should have one of those, just for reference. Be sure to get one while you're there. ;)

Those things are hard to obtain, whoever ends up with it will definately have to earn it, especially with the lineup of shooters that will be there......I didn't count but we'll probably have about 15 High Masters in FTR and some very good shooters that are on the edge of making HM in FTR and just as much in Open if not more I would think.......Gonna be a heck of a match!

Re: Palo Alto State Mid-Range/F-Class State Championship- October 4 and 5, 2014

Once again, the tricky winds at Palo Alto take their toll on good scores. I am sure that many were scratching their heads yesterday. I hope they all have a better day today!

Re: Palo Alto State Mid-Range/F-Class State Championship- October 4 and 5, 2014

This was a superbly run match>>>The smoothest I have ever seen.. It is a GREAT club.... I want to take a moment to thank Rick and EVERYONE who was responsible for such an excellent weekend. The people there, and their shooting capabilities are the best ever! I had an extraordinary time with extraordinary people..

Re: Palo Alto State Mid-Range/F-Class State Championship- October 4 and 5, 2014

Definitely a hornets nest down there at Palo Alto. The word is that Wes Cummings set a new natl police record again! Congrats old man!!

Re: Palo Alto State Mid-Range/F-Class State Championship- October 4 and 5, 2014

Unofficial results in F/TR have Craig Martin winning, Greg Barkley taking second, Chris Hebert for third, and Jade Delcambre in fourth. I think there were three shooters tied for score with x count deciding third, fourth, and fifth.

On another note, Greg Barkley must have bought some new primers, and from a reputable source this time. ;D

Re: Palo Alto State Mid-Range/F-Class State Championship- October 4 and 5, 2014

It was a very competitive match with beautiful weather and challenging winds, perfect for a championship match......Congrats to the winners, they shot extremely well!......It was good to see/shoot with everyone from surrounding states, im glad they made the trip and hope they all come back for future matches.

Russell, i think there were actually 4 of us in FTR tied for 3rd place and it came down to X count, i finished 5th as Wes Powell was 4th, it was a tight match......I feel bad for Mr. Suber, he shot great then cross fired today on his 2nd string in FTR.......In Open, Gerald (Jerry) Boudreaux cross fired as well taking him out of the running also.......Heart breaker for those guys!........... :-\

Re: Palo Alto State Mid-Range/F-Class State Championship- October 4 and 5, 2014

Thanks for the clarification Jade. Great shooting by all you guys this weekend.

Re: Palo Alto State Mid-Range/F-Class State Championship- October 4 and 5, 2014

Dos XX, Greg is using using the same old primers. He finally started weighing them just like you do.......

Re: Palo Alto State Mid-Range/F-Class State Championship- October 4 and 5, 2014

Hah. It seems to be working for him. Did he use the big spotter?

PA is one of the few places I know where a top shooter like Jade can have an off weekend and feel bad for someone else.
I did have a blast CF notwithstanding. Ms Andy shot well as usual and that is always a hoot for me. Makes the trip home a whole bunch better. LOL

Man, it is always great to shoot with that Texas bunch. You guys come back often.

Rick and crew out did themselves this weekend. I think Rick is somewhere in a coma about now. He'll come to soon though.

Congrats to all the winners. If you placed on this particular windy weekend, You shot very well indeed.
What a great time.

Re: Palo Alto State Mid-Range/F-Class State Championship- October 4 and 5, 2014

I'll do the writeup and post final results when I get home tonight. I went to bed real early last night. Lol
I want to thank everyone for making the trip.
The was great people, great weather and great shooting.

Re: Palo Alto State Mid-Range/F-Class State Championship- October 4 and 5, 2014

WOW! Just WOW!, What a great match. This is truly a must make match from now on. Well run by some of the greatest people that go way out of their way to make this a wonderful match. From the facilities to the food and door prizes worth estimated at ($10,000) that I'm sure took a lot of time and calls to sponsors to amass. The talent level at Palo Alto has got to make it one of the premier shooting clubs in the U.S. Great job again Louisiana.

Shhhhh!!!! Don't you already know how hard it is to get into this match? We should keep this our little secret! ;D

On a serious note.
Thank you Rick and all the others that make this match happen. It's a good one!

I still feel bad for Jerry Boudreaux for cross-firing on my target. He had it in the bag as he and his 6.5x47 Lapua were tearing it up!
It was amazing that both leaders, Jerry B. (F-Open) and Mr. Suber (F-T/R) both cross-fired on the second string on Sunday.

Congrats to the winners!

And I certainly cannot forget those who helped with the heavy lifting. Tammy Stewart, Tricia LeBlanc, Debbie Hebert and Jolinda Daugherty handled the statistics and kept things moving like a well-oiled machine. Joe Mistrettta helped me with calling the line. Thanks to Rob Westfall, Gary Henry, Robert Bose, Mickey Brinkman, Bob Lundholm, John LeBlanc, Vaughn McDonald and Richard Bordelon for helping with Pit duties. And Gary Henry for cooking the pulled pork we had for lunch Saturday. I can’t thank you all enough!

60 folks came from as far away as West Texas to Tennessee to Florida to shoot with us. We thank all of you for making the trip and hope you will come back.
The weather was also perfect for the match. Not a cloud in the sky either day and temperatures starting in the upper 50’s to mid- to upper-70’s for a high. Winds on Saturday were brisk right from the first string and never let up. Sunday started with zero wind but picked up as the day went on.

The weekend saw a new (unofficial at this time) National Record shot as well as

At the end of the first day saw Kenny Porter with a 1 point lead over Stacey Tamulinas. But Sunday saw Stacey find that 2nd gear and take a 2 point overall lead to win the Prone side with a 1194-7x to Kenny’s 2nd Place 1192-58X. Gary Henry was 3rd with a 1190-65X.
1st High Master went to Jon Rhynard and 2nd High Master went to Warren Freeman.

Jim Suber held a 1 point lead over Ray Nallie after day 1 in FTR. An unfortunate event for Jim took him out of the race on Sunday. But Craig Martin also came on strong on Sunday and was the winner with a 1182-59X. Greg Barkley was 2nd with a 1178-52X and Chris Hebert was 3rd with a 1177-55X.
John “Wes” Powell and Jade Delcambre had equal 1177-43x for the series, but Wes had shot a 197-7X to Jade’s 196-9X on their last strings, so he was 1st High Master and Jade took 2nd High Master. John Bishop rounded out the group with 3rd High Master.
Ray Weaver was 1st Master/Master Unclassified. Ray Nallie took 2nd Master/Master Unclassified.

In the Open group, Gerald Boudreaux was in 1st place by 2 points over Chip Noel. But Sunday, Gerald also experienced an unfortunate event that took him out of the race for the title. Barry Holcomb shooting 2 cleans on Sunday took the win with a 1190-60x. 2nd Place went to William Wittman and 3rd Place was won by Ms. Andy Suber.
1st High Master went to David Decoreaux, 2nd High Master went to Chip Noel and 3rd High Master went to Marc Olivier.
1st Master/Master Unclassified went to Wes Cummings.

Wes Cummings set an unofficial National Record for Police posting a 199-12X, not once but twice this weekend. The old record was 199-11X. Paperwork will be submitted to the NRA to record this new record. Congratulations to Wes! It couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

Again I want to thank everyone who came out to shoot and to those who helped with running things.

I’ll be submitting my proposed dates for the regional and Championship soon, so be on the lookout as I will put the information out as soon as I get approvals.

Thanks again,
Rick
