WANTED 28 Gauge Shotgun

Looking for a Christmas present to share with the grandkids. Would like to find a single shot or something like an 870 Express.
Don't want to spend a fortune, budget is $500. I know, can't get much for that.

Just my opinion, but I would suggest that you take a long hard look at the price and availability of 28 gauge shotgun shells before you spring for a new gun.

Might be a tad more, but the Tristar OUs in 28 ga are fantastic value. I have a Cypher that I bought new for $650. Excellent for clays, birds, and bunnies

The local Walmart has 28 ga ammo in stock. Results may vary but, ammo is out there. Price was about the same as 20 ga ammo.

If you find a 28ga 870 express or wingmaster for $500, that is an excellent deal. 28ga wingmasters in decent shape are going for over $1000 and the last 28ga express I saw went for $850. CZ makes a decent 28ga pump that you can get for under $500 if you want to go the pump way.

IMO, get a turkish 28ga O/U. They weigh just over 5lbs and function well. The ATI 28ga Calvary is the same gun as a savage 555. My younger boys both shoot those guns in 28ga and they have been great for many years and many thousands of rounds. Can not speak to the quality of other turkish O/Us.

I have the G-Force Filthy Pheasant O/U in 28 gauge and LOVE it. I have put about 750 rounds through it so far and have had no problems at all. I paid about $450 for it.

I also have a Hatfield semi auto in 28 that I paid about $250 for. It will NOT run. I have tried everything and finally just gave up on it. I do not recommend that one.
