Bout through, going to put the bulls back in in a couple of weeks. Like to start about the first of December so I already feeding and it gives them a boost. Grass is coming on here and other than liquid supplement they will be on their own, I will creep the calves for a few weeks..

Do you ever use AI? How many bulls do you have? Are they registered bulls? You have some nice looking cattle is the reason I ask. WD

My family had a cattle farm. Over 100 head. When the bottom fell out on prices it took more $$ to feed them than they were worth.
That's called going backwards ..
Prices did come back but it took many years to recoup the losses
....sounds like the dow stock market to me....

I’m seeing that more all the time. First hunters with money come and lease land for hunting rights, they throw a fit if someone’s cow gets through a fence on there food plots. These weekend warriors are having so much fun, next thing you know they have bought the place. Hmm.. Guess what, brand new fences, water facilities, and their own Cattle they despise so much.

Driving past a cattle feedlot like the big one along I-80 in Nebraska isn't the most pleasant olfactory experience, but it's miles better than hogs.

I learned to do AI back in the seventys but just too much trouble for 400 head that I was running back then. I use red and black limos for a while then go back with brangus to keep the same look, sort of a homade F1 cross.

Divided it up several years ago and gave most to my boys, I kept a section for me and my wife, I just run a 100 moma cows now and my health may force me out this year, been thinking about selling down to 10 good gentle heifers just to have something to look at.

During my father's latter days, he liked to take the pickup out to the pastures and just watch the cows. Very relaxing.

Kinda like sheep. Horribly stinky when penned up in large numbers. Worse in the rain...

Bojo, couple of things to remember. My Daddy told me one time when I was going through this; "boy, when you're going through hell the important thing is KEEP GOING, DON'T STOP! " You will come out the other side a better man for it!
#2, another old man told me that the best way to get out from under a bad woman was to get on top of a good one ASAP. I can tell you from experience that they both work.. John
