My daughter was given a historically interesting rifle. It is a Superior Action made by Ross Sherman, and was smithed and owned by Fred Sinclair, painted by his wife, named Old Yeller 3rd and campaigned in the early 1980's. Paige was not able to go with me tonight, but I could not wait to hit the fields. I asked my son to join me and we took Old Yeller 3rd which is a 22PPC and a Hart 6mmBR. We had fits with the wind initially. It always takes me a bit at the beginning of the season to remember how far to hold...not much in the way of windflags on this farm!
My son got one with the 6mm at 525 yards, through the back of the foot and into the chest. Nice shot. I got four others. i had one bad hit with the 6mm. I got three others with the 22PPC off a Mcfadden tripod. One at 275, one at 350 and one at 415. This was the baptism for the old rifle, bringing it back into use. I am not a BR guy, but i am really going to like this rifle for chucks. I am getting right about 3500 FPS with a 50 grain Vmax.
So, let it be known, MrMajestic and IMMORTAL, I may be way behind, but i am now in the game!
