Nightforce Scope Problem

No one is perfect. Likewise, no manufacturer has an absolutely perfect track record. If a problem occurs, the first step should always be to give the manufacturer the opportunity to correct the problem.

I'm trying to work with them.

I loaded 18 rounds of a proven accurate load for this rifle, and will do another test.

Stiller told you wrong about bedding the bases, I've seen more than one come in with accuracy issues and when you pull the base you can see where it's working, I won't send a rifle out with a rail not bedded especially with a heavy NF going on top.

It seems to be grouping and I'm not finished checking the tracking. In this part of the country, days when the wind doesn't blow are scarce. I hope to do additional testing this Sunday.

Are you familiar with the Stiller Predator action and picatinny base? It is pinned and attached with screws.

I received the scope, mounted per their suggestions, and torqued it to their specs. I will test it and report results. I'm convinced Nightforce makes good quality optics. Their scopes have been used to set records and win many matches. I also know that anything mechanical can fail and no manufacturer is perfect.

I did some more testing, and it has improved very much. In this area it's difficult to catch a day without wind issues. I hope to do a box test.

I had mine bedded today. I appreciate the input. Will test it this Sunday and report back.

This was going completely off of paper and everything was tight. I can see how slight movement might cause several inches, but this was off the chart movement. I had it bedded and will do extensive testing.

First step is verify everything (including barrel) like he did. Second step is verify the rifles accuracy with another scope, like he did. 3rd step, The OP sent the scope to NF and they sent it back saying it was fine. Yet it has the same problem. All before he ever posted this topic.

So it's not like he's bashing NF before giving them a chance. They had the scope, but seemed to have misplaced their responsibility amongst their arrogance.

You're a little late to this parade. My comment was general to anyone reading this thread, not specifically aimed at the OP, who as you pointed out did the right thing. Too many times in other posts (NOT this one), I have seen people rant and attack a manufacturer before giving them the opportunity to identify and/or correct a problem. It seemed like a reasonable place to make the statement I made. In any event, from his more recent posts it looks as though it wasn't the scope, or at least it seems to be holding zero now. That would lead me to believe NF's original response was correct.

It has grouped better since they sent it back. The rifle has not grouped as well with the NF scope as it did when I mounted my Leupold VX-6 4-24 on it. I did some tracking tests and I am not pleased with the results. That being said, I am not sure my testing was the best it could be. I am sending it to another shooter to test it on his proven accurate rifle. After those tests are done, I will test it again with a load that shoots accurately in the rifle.
