Newest addition... Tikka T3x .223....

Apparently necessity is still the mother of invention. It came to mind that I might be able to repurpose the Wiebad cheek pad from my RPR to solve this issue. I have RPR stocks on other rifles so l have multiple cheek pads. Attached a couple pieces of industrial Velcro to the existing cheek rest. Added a piece of leather from an old belt for a spacer. Secured the leather with the strap that was supposed to go under the RPR cheek rest. Worked perfectly. I have that perfect "just lay your head on the stock and open your eyes to the perfect sight picture" fit now. Don't think it looks too bad either. Now to make a spacer to lengthen the LOP a bit.

I've actually shoot off that table quite a bit. Not the best but I'm used to it and it works in a pinch. I will shoot it prone or from a real bench at the range most of the time. I just had to shoot it today and really tough to shoot prone at my buddy's house given the fence and his lack of mowing.
I use a set of saw horses, 2x4's & Plywood to do the same. Amazingly, I shot my bet group ever off of it @ 500 Yards. Go figure.

Nice job with your gun. I too, like to tinker on guns. It's part of the fun. Making it yours. My background is in wood work, so I go in a different direction. If you have a spare minute, go to the Gunsmithing section and open the Do it yourself Stockmaking thread. The opening post is my Tikka T3 in 223. They're good shooters! If you want to give one a try, I'll send you a free pattern.

Also, Eliseo makes a tube gun chassis for the T3. Maybe *that* was my best snag on this site. It’s being built for me from another T3 donor that I snuck up on.

The T3 action and trigger are so nice.

I wonder why someone hasn’t tripped to it and started producing pre-fit barrels for it.

Hmmmmmmm

Thanks Josh! I love wood working also. Have built furniture and such for many years I'm blessed to have a pretty nice home shop for wood, metal etc...

Hey. That is a nice shop! It's almost too clean! Great dust collection system. Looks like you have all the tools needed. PM me with your address if you want a pattern.

I sucked for a few years too, way back when.:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::rolleyes:

Thanks for sharing the duct seal idea as I am headed to lowes to get some for one of mine that I dont want permanantly weighted or altered. That rifle looks bitchin in that color. Great job.

Thanks! The duct seal was one of those Eureka moments. Seems a much better answer than lead shot.

Very Nice. What was end cost of the manner's job? Thx. My 270 win kicks like a Missouri Mule. Did the Manners' stock tame the recoil down a bit?

I just about stole that Manners on here and the rebarrel job was a trade for other work.

It went from being a T3 Lite in 243 Winchester to a 7-47 Lapua weighing a hair over 8 lbs. It does kick less, but I don’t think that you can compare the two.

I will tell you that it shoots very well. If I snuck up on one of those CBI/Manners stocks again, I’d build another.

On the odd chance that you happen to be near Dayton OH, or Nashville TN, you are welcome to shoot it.

Something like that. Just a country boy from Mt Juliet, TN that followed his career through TX and AL to OH. I’ll likely wrap it up here as I have 3 years or so left.

I still can't get happy/comfortable with the factory stock. Boyd's At One on order along with metal trigger guard from Atlasworx.

That's how my stock thread started. I liked the Tikkas but hated the stock. Some one let me shoot a Master Sporter. I loved it. I bought a few, but they're EXPENSIVE!! I studied the stock for a while and decided to take a shot at making one, with a few minor improvements. Once I made a few, I figured I'd share the process.
