"new" ripoff trimmer from Hornady

So you have a Hornady unit already and did a side by side to state the Henderson is higher quality?

And I am sure they will sell the cutter heads separately.
its clear the henderson is higher quality and robust, i have yet to ever touch hornady anything and be impressed, besides maybe their atip packaging.

again, i think the biggest issue for me is the clear undercut of henderson. knocked off their design and made it just so ever so slightly cheaper to attempt to capture that market.

but then again, your standard hornady user is much different than your reloader who uses area 419, autotricklers, amps, primal rights, etc.

so i suppose i digress a little bit, the serious reloaders are going to know/hear about and most likely choose the henderson. 90% of hornady users buy stuff off the shelf at a cabelas or bass pro.

Ah so now it's class warfare. LOL

I don't remember, but I think Rob used to have Hornady on his jersey. Keep that in mind.

It's not as simple as a product being the same. The answer to your questions has to do with the details in patent copyright laws. There are certain lines you can not cross to copy a product. Also, once a patent or copyright expires, the item is open for being copied by anyone.
That's true....There are several different types of patents, a design patent is based on how a product looks, and you describe what features in the design you wish to protect by the patent. A utility patent is based on how the product functions, and you describe what mechanisms or gadgets in the product you wish to protect. If for instance, Henderson patented the belt driven aspect of their product specifically and nothing else, and Hornady utilized a non-belt driven setup to theirs, even if it looks identical in all other ways. They diligently observed the item that was patented and completely designed their product to not violate the patent. The patent doesn't protect the whole part, only the features specified in the patent. Also, patents don't offer worldwide protection to a product, you have to pay to register your patent in every country you want it to be protected in.

I didn't see it discussed, but it is relevant. You have a propensity to chime in on a lot of threads about Hornady.

I chime in to posts about Hornady on multiple forums as I have some first hand knowledge of the product lines I like to pass on and help people. In this case I have no first hand knowledge of the product but it's because there is a lot of screaming and working up the masses, points to be made on design differences and also to pass on info I had received from CS and also show some hypocrisy that needed to be pointed out that copying some products with changes to them is ok but not others.

That I have been sponsored by them in the past and know the company allows me to have that respect for the company as mentioned and know the people involved instead of trying to show them as some faceless giant corporation.

Absolutely, but we can't negate they sponsored him.

Past tense. That is an important part everyone who seems like they are using this as some negative point against my posts tries to glide over. I don't wear a jersey anymore when shooting centerfire PRS matches. I wear a sunshirt so I don't get skin cancer again. LOL

i'll
yep, those are my words. pretty impressive you found that. i loved hornady til now. ran almost every line of their bullets.

i never understood the negative comments towards hornady til now. gotta give them credit on their marketing skills though i suppose, and there is no denying they probably make the best "bang for your buck" bullets out there, which is why i liked them so much and always recommended the 53 vmax and 225 eldm.

its fine if anyone disagrees with me, but I just personally saw this as an undercutting of henderson in a slimy big business way and i have too much respect for Todd to sit back and turn the other cheek.
