"new" ripoff trimmer from Hornady

I am S-L-O-W-L-Y working my way towards shifting the new LE Wilson single stage press down to second place on the wish list, and sliding one of these Henderson trimmers to the #1 spot. Hornady is making me do it!
This has been interesting, to say the least.

the le wilson looks like they are having prazi OEM for them. Only thing I would want to know on that LE wilson is if they could take 1-1/4 dies.

On another note, have you considered the area 419?? I am getting fantastic results with shoulder bump and I have loaded up to cheytac on it.

The SAC nexus is awesome too, but i dont think it can take 1-1/4 dies unfortunately.

Not to pick this scab but I received a response from Hornady customer service on my question about if they copied the Henderson:

Our trimmer is simply our trimmer. It’s not a “copy” of anything. It’s the most advanced 3-in-1 trimmer on the market. Did we look at a lot of other trimmers - of course. We should assume Henderson reviewed other designs before making theirs. Chevrolet makes cars with 4 wheels. So does Ford and Dodge. Are the vehicles the same? Theirs is red - Ours is red - Hornady has been red since 1949. Aside from that, we have numerous unique features on our trimmer (motor is faster, not a belt drive / click adjust for fine tuning etc. etc.) Designed and assembled in the USA at Hornady.
Wow, that is such a marketing response. No, its not 100% identical, but you can't say with a straight face that they organically came up with the design that is about a 95% copy.

In much of the world of motorized precision equipment, just the difference of direct vs belt drive would be enough to separate these two machines into two completely different quality and or types of mechanisms. They would certainly have different patents and followings.

If you want to see a great example of the argument, try “direct drive vs belt drive turn tables”.

To your eye. A lot different between the trimmers too but all you see is the two arms and handle and say they are the same.
to my eye? no, the brain. Area 419 completely custom designed EVERY single piece, from scratch, and its absolutely an incredible piece of engineering. and the price reflects that.

I've got to say Hornady has built a better mouse trap in the world of knock offs. But when you make it better and at a better price point and your a family own USA company its all good God Bless America.

besides adding the micro adjust, the henderson unit is magnitudes higher of quality above the hornady in every way.

unless hornady sells additional cutter heads, its gonna really suck adjusting those cutter blades everytime you want to change calibers.

i think my biggest gripe is their fancy commercial that makes it seem like its a revolutionary design. but thats just marketing i suppose..

So you have a Hornady unit already and did a side by side to state the Henderson is higher quality?

And I am sure they will sell the cutter heads separately.
