New RCBS scale coming at some point

Looks good but will it be an affordable option or just another overpriced dispenser? I never would have though I would spend close to $800 for a FX120 either but I did and reflecting back I kinda wish I had not. The expensive scale is the cats ass for weighing powder but it produces ammo way above my shooting ability so even though I get way better numbers for the loaded rounds I'm not seeing any "huge" noticeable difference on paper more so than my trusty beam scale. Money could/should have been used for other things to help me be a better shooter... hindsight.

For the incremental accuracy over the current RCBS electronic scale I have, the price point is big nearly a two times increase in price for somewhat more accuracy. My RCBS old unit does hold to 0.1 reasonably well but I have customized it many modifications.

Sure I spend lots of reloading, supplies, rifles, etc but what I have works well.

I bought a chinese scale that supposedly reads to 0.01" but it is so fickle, slow and irritating to use I have it on the shelf awaiting disposal

Guess, I'll just have to wait and see what other's experiences are with this.

The Bluetooth feature isn't very compelling to me. And they state on the RCBS wetsite: "Utilizing our Patent Pending dual tube dispense technology most charges can be thrown in under 20 seconds to 0.10 grain accuracy" . . . isn't all that compelling to me either, especially at that price point. On the positive side, the .04 grain accuracy in "Match Mode" sounds real good and that second tube (the trickling tube) probably helps a lot with that (don't have to have a separate trickler to get the accuracy).

Its not the difference when they are set up, it is the number of things that can cause them to drift. Strain gauges are very sensitive to environmental and electrical. Strain are also prone to drift as they are constantly comparing one reading against the last.

They just take a lot more attention to hold and produce constant readings.

My FX120i drifts off zero a heck of a lot more than my RCBS CM's or GemPro 250. Leave them on pretty much all the time. Whenever one of the scales is off zero, it always seems to be the FX120i... The GemPro will every once in a great while, but not nearly as much as the FX120i. Have to watch the FX really close.

My CMs never drift, not even on first staring them up. Can have them off for days, turn them on and never have to re-zero.

Why do I feel that Midway just marked it up 25% to get to the $1123.95 MSRP when RCBS actually said the MSRP was supposed to be $899???

I noticed that mine will do that sometimes, trying to figure out why a search of the great web told me that the sensitivity of the scale is subject to barometric pressure differences, its that sensitive. I use a powder pan that I filed the handle on till it weighs and exact amount in my case 129.00gr exactly. However that weight can be off on any given day and the scale will read 128.98 or 129.01 you get the idea. A quick "re-zero" and its good to go and will not deviate at all during use. The more I use my FX120i the faster I get with it.

I'm still fully willing to give it the benefit of doubt and I will still buy one and test it but I think the problem is they're really making it hard to like on paper right now. On paper they missed the mark in a weird way and that's what's sitting rough with people I think. Had their estimated MSRP been lower since it's a strain gauge OR had it been a magnetic restoration gauge for the $900 price then people would be more excited or at least less apprehensive.

For me it's like they're trying to compete in the sports car market and have decided to put a Honda engine in a Porsche body and hope nobody's gonna open the hood and charge the same as their nearest competitor, let's say a Corvette.

Yeah once I'm using it, it's fine. Just drifts when sitting there for a day or two.
I have all the weights if my powder pans recorded and labeled. That way it always working as a check weight when I pull the pan off the scale. Should read the exact weight of the pan in the negative scale if it's not drifting.
