Hello everyone! My name is William and technically I am William the 7th and my 2 year old son is the 8th. (First son of the first son!) So we go back a long time.

I am 33 years old and work in education for a high school in Denver. I been into niche shooting for about 10 years and have a thing for magnums (454 casull, 257 weatherby ect..) and 4 years ago I became obsessed with shooting tiny groups and a love for AR 15 benchrest style shooting / building space style guns with match barrels
( Shilen ect) I've been shooting pretty much every weekend nearly for 4 years now and finally am at a point where I feel acomplisjed on a personal level, and satisfied more often than not with the 223 rem cartridge at short to medium ranges and it's diversity with handloads. However, I doubt I would be as good while competing because I haven't hit many matches. Pressure I am not used to. Anyways, I look forward to taking things to the next level by absorbing all this hidden gold and knowledge. I am a member of Colorado Rifle Club if anyone else goes there let me know!

Thank you for all you do!

William C

Welcome Aboard.......Lots of people around here are kind of obsessed with shooting tiny groups off a bench. I am sure you will fit right in.

Best Regards
Rick

WELCOME WILLIAM, WHEN I FIRST STARTED COMPETING AT THE CLUB I BELONG TO, THE WORD, COMPETITION, MADE ME A LITTLE HESITANT TO JUMP IN, BUT, AT THE VERY FIRST MATCH I ATTENDED, I WAS WELCOMED INTO THE GROUP & FOUND THAT EVERYONE WAS VERY OPEN & FRIENDLY & WELCOMED MY QUESTIONS, HAVE SINCE THEN, MADE A LOT OF NEW FRIENDS & WAS ASKED A FEW YEARS AGO TO BE AN OFFICER IN THE CLUB! WHAT A WONDERFUL WAY TO MEET NEW FRIENDS & RELAX ON ANY GIVEN WEEKEND! SO, DONT BE AFRAID TO JUMP IN & HAVE FUN!

Welcome to the forum.
There are several shooters on the forum from the front range that are members of the Colorado Rifle Club.
I’m on the other side of the state near Grand Junction.
Lots of match opportunities, I think the International Benchrest Shooters (IBS) Tactical Rifle match shot at 600 yards and 1000 yards may work for the platform you have. F-Class also has a tactical rifle contest. I know at out local F-Class matches we have several AR shooters shooting tactical at 600 yards.

Howdy William - welcome to the forum. It sounds like you have been suffering from “shooting disease” for a while.
I’m the 1000 yard IBS match director at CRC. Pretty sure I can help you in your quest for distance and precision on our range. We have a great group of guys always willing to help and share their knowledge. Send me a PM and I will give you a call. I live up in the Fort Collins area.

Thank you this is exactly what I was looking for!

Welcome! Nice to see a pro gun educator! My father was a math teacher for 30 years.
Of course! It is not the most friendly place to share my passion, however these days we have much more people casually into it so I don't hide the fact I like to hit the range but it is hard for me to listen to some of the politics that go on the school system forsure.

Grand Junction was the home of one of, if not, the most famous bench rest shooters in the world, Skip Otto. He owned Skip’s Machine Shop. I hope you met him before he passed away.
I didn't know that. Sadly, never had the pleasure of meeting him. I did, however, have the opportunity to work with David Gosnell.

Although I have lived in Denver all my life, I wish I had visited there before. Nice to know that the passion is big in the state!
