It’s here!! It’s taking a little getting used to and it’s not completely intuitive but so far it’s faster and more reliable and the one time I did disconnect I was easily able to reconnect from the phone without having to turn the unit off and on again.

What device are you using the app on? Something new?
I ask because, there was some talk that newer Bluetooth tech didn't work well with LR.
Both my phones would connect, until it didn't.

Been using an old tablet and it's finicky, but will work. Have to power cycle the Labrador when it glitches.

Edit: just to be clear, I'm on the old app and old firmware. Using Android.

This is the updated Labrador app on my iPhone.

Mine didn’t auto update on iphone. I had to go get it in the app store. I didn’t even know there was a newer version. The app change log says 9-20-21.
Yeah that’s what’s weird because it did it update until just a couple days ago. I’m assuming it may have been stuck in approval limbo or something because I use it several times a week and didn’t catch it had auto updated until last night so it had to have been in just the last couple days.

Believe labradar posted two days ago they updated the app. So it has not been out but a few days according to their facebook post.

Maybe we can actually use the app now. It was garbage up to this point

Using it last night was only for about 20 rounds and honestly I did disconnect once but I was able to instantly reconnect it from the app which is something it wouldn’t do previously. Also deleting strings or shots is crazy fast now instead of taking forever. You can also review all your shots easily rather than having to toggle through them one page at a time. Overall I think the changes a really good so far but I haven’t had time to really dig into all of it yet.

I should note thst the only funky thing so far is how to arm it. It took three of us five minutes to figure it out. You have to go down to the bottom right and click on last shot, then hit the arm button. That’s the only way to arm or disarm from the app.

Well, it probably couldn't get a whole lot less reliable. Last couple of times I used mine, my phone wouldn't connect at all.

These guys come up with some of the clunkiest, most non-intuitive interfaces/controls I've ever seen. They need to hire a someone who's good at user-friendly design.

@F Class John, Thanks for forewarning us. When I saw the post this morning I thought "I am not upgrading, I am ok with how mine works now". So when I got to the range this morning, sure enough the app had upgraded itself and I was stuck with learning to use it on the fly. I did ok I guess, but am sure glad that you gave us a warning.

Thanks,
Richard

Glad that I checked this out before going to the range come April. The app on my new Iphone had automatically updated. Took a few shenanigans to get the bluetooth to pair but perseverance paid off. To tell you the truth, I liked the old UI a lot better. Luckily I mostly use it as a straight up chronograph and record velocities by hand in each caliber's range notebook. It is nice being ably to pull up some result from the past when I'm not on the shooting line however. With the old app, I occasionally lost the connection but got it back easily without having to power anything off and back on. I'll grow accustomed to the new one once I use it more when comfortable shooting weather returns in about 3 months up here.

Hoot

I had forgotten to update my LabRadar firmware. Did so and now I can't get it to pair with my Iphone to save my life.

Noticed this post yesterday and was looking forward to using the new app with a buddy who needed a rough OCW test. I updated the main unit and downloaded the new app here at home to play with it a bit. Got to the range, set it all up and started recording. The app disconnected from the unit 4 times in the middle of strings, luckily the data could be manipulated on the main unit as always. (I was less than 6 feet away with the iPhone.)

I like the new interface design but the BT connection is completely unreliable, makes it unusable IMO. Why can't this be fixed? This problem has been around since early release of the product.........

Exactly the reason I haven't bought one. I really need a new chronograph, but am waiting for either version 2 or better yet, another company that actually gives a crap to come out with a better one.
