New guy new cartridge

Hi I’m new to this sight , my first post . I’ve been following for some time though , and think I’ve found a new home the discussions are great lots of knowledge and respect for one another . Great sight thanks for allowing me to be part of this collective knowledge. Long time hunter, and have been reloading for 30+ years now . Over the years my interest has lead me to the large calibers 338/375/416/50 and last 6/7 years to long range target shooting . I love the proses of designing a wild cat , some are petty main stream ,300WSM/6.5 almost a std now. Improved 338 lapua necked down to 7MM, have one of tubs 338XC lots of power have done some rebuilds on std rifels , new barrels stocks , triggers ect just fun stuff . Always wanted to develop a new cartridge that actually filled a void . And the new long range big guns are a big attraction for me ! Shot the 50 BMG then 416 Barrett, saw all the great 375 options but ran out of money for another complete new gun , thought if I could just change out barrel to 375 that would be the way to go . But with a 50/426 action every thing in 375 was in my opinion way over bore! So we needed a wild cat designed for 375 caliber on a 50/416 size rim and base. (007-375) is my answer it’s a 2” cartridge appropriate body taper -30 degree shoulder with a long neck for heavy , , long for caliber bullets. holds 150 to160 gr powder depending which is used . And best of all just rent a reamer and get a 375 barrel and good to go !! a hole lot cheeper than a new gun . And best of all easy new brass just reload and go! Lots of info and pictures at mission shooting supplies

i made one in .458 with 50 spotter brass.chambered with a chucking reamer and put a 118* shoulder on it with a drill bit, throated it eith a 45-70 reamer and make projos with 308 brass filled with lead shot in home made swage dies.shoots well with wc872 ,but since not in a fifty ban state.took it off and now shoot fifty.i have had 100 pcs of brass for sale with no bites on gb.let me know if interested.

Sounds like that was a fun project how did it shoot ? The cases I’m using are new and I have quite a few but thanks for the heads up . Do your shoot in any clubs or events . Im looking to give some fun type events a try going for a non rain day to get out there merry Christmas mike

That’s interesting . Are involved with reloading ,what do you shoot .? I’d like to have a ligetmate conversation with some one who has developed a new wild cat case and how with no existing load data how they worked up loads and most importantly how it worked out and preformed . This new cartridge I’ve designed and developed is real, shoots super accurate with great velocity and is not over boar (within 10 grains of cheytac )but in a case that by all new cartridge case development , has it all just look at every new case being developed . I would like to clear the air ,this is a case I developed for my self ,by my self ,and shoot my self .I thought maybe because of all the knowledge out there it would be interesting to decuss, and the fact that no one that I know of has gone down this road with this case. but I guess a 416 Barrett is petty crazy too ,that’s why you you see them winning king of two mile . Looking forward to hearing about some new wild cat projects , just for the sake of learning something new thanks Mike

Anzio Iron has been doing the 20mm vulcan for a long time. I am not sure if they have shortened any 20 mms but they used to do a Russian 12.?? that i think they shortened. I used to shoot the 1000yd match at manatee and had the owner shoot on the bench next me, nice guy. Check out their website Dusty. They sold 3 or 4 of the 20mms to the FBI back some years ago.

Yes i know anzio. I said we needed more options and that wasnt a swipe at them at all.

the .458 shoots well.the 20/50cal wildcat needed a better powder but would stay on paper but both are now on the shelf.i shoot 20 vulcan also.and when i make more will show how to make 20mm 1500 or 2000grain frangible projos from split neck 50bmg brass.side note, elr got the 20/50 cal reamers from me before he decided to not proceed due to health issues.sorry but cant tell u how to work up loads safely due to liability.

there were a few articles published by the fifty caliber shooters assn that had 50 cal widcats that were in various calibers with load data .iirc its name was 50 wildcats on bmg cases or similar.it was in the mid ninties.this and how to make frangible projectiles from a 7mm brass case articles are available as reprints from fcsa.cast bullets has an excellent swaging section on their forum, along with how to make a swage press/dies. i have made .458/.50 /20mm frangibles with this info.

Hay thanks ! I did some research on 50 caliber wild cats amazingly there are quite a few . Although some were just for fun and some guys came up with some 50 caliber cartridges that were off smaller cases that were and are quite effective and being use to day . what I didn’t see in the 50 BMG case was a lot of wild cats or any one making brass available and offering up load data and velocity along with accuracy recommendations.hope to see some new ideas coming out with all the ELR big cases high velocity builds . I built this just for me but thought maybe some 50/416 caliber guys might find this new 375 fun and a cheep redo on an existing gun . I keep looking at other stuff being built and weather it is a new case or just a modified version of an existing one . It’s what is fun and offers us a great avenue of adventure. 22-to 50+ caliber keep experimenting merry Christmas to all Mike

I didn't think you took a swipe at Anzio just didn't know if you knew they made such things. The guy I shoot with in the 1000yd matches was shooting what looked to be new guns one day while I was there. He shot a 50 caliber for a while then set it on the next bench over. He picked up a rifle that was twice as big and I noticed that the roof on the shooting shed would flex and bow way up when he fired it. On about the third or fourth shoot he blew the 50 off the bench and on to the concrete floor.

Your right I didn’t know such a cartridge existed and I thought that was a swipe at my Thoughts on development of this cartridge. The Vulcan is huge and looks like there were a lot of different size cases through out its history (70-148) if I’m looking at the right info . what size case are they using , I’ll have to look some more, now that’s a big round ! Mike
