New CA Law Banning Promotion of Guns to Minors

Yeah, I saw that they claim to project the laws of California across the US. Even though I do not have a background in law beyond a college business law class, it would seem that they will have a hard time enforcing California law in Montana (for example). Now in the peoples republic of Washington, we are nearly as screwed as those living in California. The majority of residents in Washington want to be Californians.
I agree. The law is a poorly written attempt to attack gun manufacturers and retailers. In it’s current form, it is a clear violation of free speech. They say it’s to save the children but it’s really aimed at killing a culture.
I’d love to see what happens when they try to levy fines on folks in Texas, Wyoming, Montana, etc. They would need cooperation from local authorities. I’d like to listen in on that phone call!! “Hello Texas Sheriff Dan. This is the Los Angeles District Attorney. I need you to go arrest Josh B. for posting a picture of his son teaching his daughter to shoot handguns.”

How on earth is anyone not in California subject to this nonsense?
How is a platform holder not granted immunity under section 230 for the legal content(in other states) that is posted. Surely only the author is liable for it, provided the author is unfortunate enough to live in California.
Our federal judicial branch is too slow to deal with this bullshit.

I agree with enforcing federal laws in Montana. I’ve had a home there for decades.
So remember when the feds decided to make a National speed limit of 55 mph? ( gas shortage in the 70’s.)
Montana said screw you. The feds then said ‘ok, then no more federal money for your highways.’
Montana said keep your money. Maybe Mike Mansfield was in during this, not sure.

Those were the good old days. I remember motorcycling through Montana at over 90 mph when the speed limit was 55. In Montana they didn't care. Back then it was like riding through the Alps in Italy. A Disneyland for fast and furious riders (and drivers).

That aside, that was the federal government holding back federal funds. Pretty sure no one is getting funds directly from California unless they are related to buying energy that California desperately needs. Perhaps other states could cut off the power and water that California takes from other states.

Excuse me, but before you cut our power and water, do a little research;

What happens if US loses California food production?

We have the most active duty personnel in the US military.
California Is Still The Largest Contributor To The U.S. Manufacturing Industry; Productivity Growth In The State Industry Eclipses Performance In The Nation.
California is the 6th largest economy in the world.

And if California succeeds, hold onto you wallets:

Hasta la Vista, Baby! What Happens if California Leaves the Union?

So, maybe rethink what is actually contributed by California.

Lose California? Would it hurt? Absolutely........for awhile, but the rest of the nation would recover very rapidly......California would get hurt a LOT worse and would NOT recover so rapidly. IF they recovered at all.

They would figure out they WERE the tail wagging the dog.

Not saying I would be in favor of it. California is definitely worth fighting for......along with the entire left coast. Literally and figuratively. The problem isn't the land, it's most of the inhabitants in relatively small areas. IT'S THOSE DAMNED BIG CITIES.

I think when the SHTF, it's not going to be Dims vs. Repubs, it's going to be rural vs. cities. Close, but not exactly the same. It's coming.

Or maybe even quash it. ;)

Someone or some class in KA needs to challenge this obviously unconstitutionally-vague and overreaching law immediately.

An action seeking a Preliminary injunction has already been filed. No court rulings so far. If it is like everything else, it will be years before anything is done. Lets see:

1. California 10 day waiting period was ruled unconstitutional at least 10 years ago and is still in effect. never could find out what happened on this.
2. California's magazine ban was ruled unconstitutional about 4 years ago, but a stay was put on it. It just got thrown back by SCOTUS to the ninth circuit.

Exactly...........they KNOW these laws are unconstitutional, but pass them anyway. Knowing full well it will be YEARS before anything REALLY happens with them.

That's the part that gripes me the most by far. This isn't right.......and they know it isn't right. Then do it anyway while everyone ends up just sitting on their hands waiting for the "process" to work.

We still have crap laws from the Obama admin that are yet to to finally pass/fail via courts.
