New CA Law Banning Promotion of Guns to Minors

"THIS" Tree of Liberty person has been very "measured" in his responses lately , as to keep from having Topics shut down for being , "To Political" in my responses . But there are a few posts around that should make my attitudes extremely clear . We are here . We are also being courteous , so the discussion gets to continue .
Me Too! I Much Appreciate the Tolerance of the Forum Bosses who Allow these
discussions to continue. My guess is that these are Not Normal Times for any
gun owners and our entire sport and constitutional rights are in jeopardy.
I expect there to be boundaries on one side but as far as the discussions go
I have to ask If Not Us...Who?? and If Not Now....When??
I APPRECIATE This Forum and the people who run it Very Much!! as well as ALL of the
Members here that Care Deeply about our Dilemma.

California should be BANNED as well as Nancy, Adam and Gruesome Newsom!!
THERE's the problem right there.

One party government that WON'T be changed, any time soon.
And ANYBODY that doesn't see that, needs to get their eyes checked as well as a brain scan.
Adam is a failed screen writer, Newsom just screams the worst of CA, and then we have Nancy. Well she got plenty wrong on her own but her husband with the insider trading and I ask if you caught DWI where would you be right now?
In NY we have/had Spitzer, Anthony Weiner, Cuomo, Sheldon Silver (jailed), joe Bruno (jailed now dead). Who is voting for these people?
Sen. Richard Blumenthal (CT) not only was a phony VietNam Vet after getting caught and admitting it he gets re-elected!
And since we have (still !!) James Carter setting the pace with granting amnesty to 200,000 draft dodgers regardless of what they did to avoid service.
Problem is who is either party going to run? I don’t see a deep pool of choices.

No, that's slumming it for WLP.
He'd be visiting Desmond Merrion on Savile Row in London, then heading over to Holland & Holland. Both perks, and the trip, paid for with your dues.

Hope this shuts down all the duplicitous studios who make movies about guns and then vilify guns in public.
Thats a great idea and I hope all the hollywood, hypocrites, lowlife, pos's that make a living off firearms in the movies and then vilify the firearm go broke and we see them on the shit strewn streets of Polosiville. BUT at last we all know thats not going to happen because that is not part of the narrative so they will get a pass. I do my part with hollywood, no tv or movies for the better part of 10 years now. And I am fine with that!!

People... I don't wish to restrict discussion, but the state of California is now saying I might personally have to pay $25000 for a single gun-related post or image that is "attractive to minors".

And there is no limit on the potential number of $25000 penalties.

So I am asking members to be aware... until we have a court hold that AB 2571 is unconstitutional.

Frankly I am a little surprised at some members who essentially say "i don't care, I'll say whatever I want, and I don't give a damn if you have to pay $25,000 in penalties or if the site has to shut down."

EMERGENCY ATTENTION FOR ALL MEMBERS

THE CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE APPROVED ASSEMBLY BILL 2571 AND WAS SIGNED BY THE GOVERNOR. IT WAS EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2022 UNDER EMERGENCY LEGISLATION. THE LAW NEGATIVELY AFFECTS THE OPERATION OF THE CLUB RANGE.

Basically the State of California passed a law not allowing parents to bring their children to the range to shoot or purchase items targeted, to someone under the age of 18.

[Forum Boss: That is not the express language of the statute; on its face it does not prohibit bringing kids to the range. But yes, the definition of promoting firearms to minors is very, very broad.]

You can look up the Bill. Its enforcement section is under Chapter 39 (commencing with Section 22949.80) to Division 8 of the Business and Professions Code. It authorizes a penalty of $25,000 fine for a violation of this law for “advertising to minor”. IE anyone under the age of 18.

The California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA) through their legal representation of Michel & Associates Attorneys at Law indicated that Ranges take immediate action because “the definition of who is part of the “firearm industry” in the language of the law is extraordinarily broad and affects most ranges, retailers, youth shooting programs, associations and potentially individuals.

This was brought up and discussed by the Board and the membership at the Saturday meeting. A tough decision was made. All Junior Shoots, Boy Scout Shoots are CANCELED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. NO MINORS ALLOWED AT ANY OF THE CLUB MATCHES OR EVENTS.

The next question was do we allow anyone under 18 years of age onto the Range until further clarification is made from Michel & Associates.

This was discussed at the Meeting. This was a very hard decision to make. The Board (and membership present) concurred that we have to protect the Club. We are afraid the “Broad Interpretation” by the current State Administration could attack and punish the Club membership.

As of July 10th no minors are allowed on Club premises. Signage will be going up as soon as it is printed.

Side note. A Place to Shoot is located on Federal Land. Management there believes the law is not enforceable on Federal land so they will continue to operate normally and allow parents with children to use the Range.
I guess those famous Christmas ads of the Dad giving his son a BB gun and later a 22 rifle would be banned.

This is crazy. Are the video gamers, television and movies being held to the same standard. And, any member that does not care about this site being shut down needs to dismiss themselves.

Boss, I love this forum. If members are not willing to be understanding of the current situation, PLEASE DELETE THEM as per their request.
We don't need them here, and if they can't wait this mess out with respect, they are not worthy of being here. IMO.

Okay, you asked to have your account deleted. I get that and I don't take issue with anyone "saying their piece" on the way out. It's their dime...so to speak.

I'm curious as to why you are still posting though? Are you sure you want to go and not just step away for a while? It isn't anything new. I've seen guys walk away from a range or a shooting organization and then change their minds the following year or so for one reason or another.

It says you are from Georgia. Invite Stacey Abrams on here and we can all have a good time. :p
The continued posts and blatant disregard for the Boss's very reasonable request by 300 wisper shows a complete lack of restraint to a less than life threatening issue. The boss has requested an understanding of the current situation and has asked for restraint in order to keep him from suffering significant consequences only until this issue is further vetted.
The inability of a forum member to comply with this very reasonable request not only causes me to question his presence on this forum, but also his capacity to responsibly handle the firearms that he is likely in possession of. YMMV

Time for everybody to take a "Chill Pill " , here . It isn't adding to the discussion , and it is accomplishing exactly what the other side set out to do when putting this crap law in effect . Get us fighting among ourselves about semantics , and whether Our own personal First Rights exceeded their Draconian , illegal , Un-Constitutional Law . As Henry David said ; "Fear not , Faint of Heart , for even this too , shall come to pass".

Do not think that just because people do not post on a forum that has reasonably requested that this issue be allowed to take it's course as an abandonment of the 2nd amendment, the constitution, or anything else. I think you will find more patriots than trouble makers on this forum, and I personally like it that way.
One less trouble maker does not bother me in the least.

Hate to say it boss but it's time to leave California. They will do everything in their power to destroy you and by association, the rest of us as well. You won't win in that state. Let them have it. Eventually the only people left will be government dependents and those stupid enough to pay for them. We do not want to see you trapped in that environment.

I agree that CA is not firearms friendly. But please understand that the restrictions and penalties of AB 2571 are not, repeat not, limited to businesses based in California.

The insane penalties are stated to apply to ANY "firearms industry member" based anywhere, not just California.

This is why we are working on completely blocking content internet access to California.

Yeah, I saw that they claim to project the laws of California across the US. Even though I do not have a background in law beyond a college business law class, it would seem that they will have a hard time enforcing California law in Montana (for example). Now in the peoples republic of Washington, we are nearly as screwed as those living in California. The majority of residents in Washington want to be Californians.
