New 6XC Build

Varget and 8208 burns REAL HOT! Check a heat index chart. H4350 and even better yet, AR comp burns much cooler extending throat life.

AA2700 is close to the burn rate of the 4350'sm and is one of the coolest burning powers made.

Barrel is ready to be installed! When setting headspace with new brass do you take the ejector out of the bolt? I normally do with a go gauge but dont have one and this is not my first rodeo with remage barrels

I have two different lots of new Peterson 6XC brass which I really like and a 6XC Go Min gauge. Both iterations of the Peterson brass are shorter at the shoulder datum line than the Go Min gauge. If you use a new Peterson 6XC case to set your headspace, your headspace will be shorter than Go Min. I doubt that the earth will open up and swallow you and your rifle but just saying...

Hoot

New brass can be pretty short sometimes. I once set up a Savage barrel kind of tight on new brass and my die wouldn’t bump the shoulder.

set the HS on the brass with a little feel, then tape on the case, for your NG and you will be happy, growth will be small, and fun will be had
Yup, That's exactly what I did with, my New 6 XC Criterion, RemAge Barrel and Rem 700 SS action,.. I used 2 rounds of NEW Norma, 6 XC Brass, set with, very lite Bolt closing pressure, on cases, which sets Bolt tight, on the "Go Gage" then, "taped up" the back of my Go Gage and used IT as,.. the No-Go !
I've obtained, NO Brass "stretch" and, a VERY accurate, Rifle with, THIS Method !
I ONLY use, Large Rifle Primers as it can get, BITTER COLD, in Dec., Jan. and Feb, here ( no like em' ,.. Hang fires ! ).
Petersen Brass, IS slightly "Thicker" and in my 6.5 Creed, I HAD to use, 1/2 to 3/4 of, a Grain LESS Powder as pressures mounted quickly at,.. "Top End", Loads.
YES,.. take the Ejector, OUT to set, Headspace !

Here she is! Newer production R700 short action 26" 1:8 twist Urbanrifleman barrel. Indian Creek Design chassis 10x42 SWFA Scope. Weighs roughly 14lbs. Loading ammo as we speak. 112gr Barnes match burners with H4350

Make sure to give a range report too please. I have 2 - 6XC’s right now and am always looking for different loads. Rifle Looks Good Too..

Loaded 10 rounds to 36.5 gr H4350 to sight in the scope. 15 mph winds at my back and this is the result of the last five rounds. Loving the lower recoil, with work up in powder charge and try five more at 100 yards
