New 22BR and 90VLD's

Well,

Did a ladder test today, it appears that the node on the Rock Creek 32 inch bbl, (7.2 twist) is some where around 32.1 to 32.4 grs of 2000MR powder. I didn't do any chrony test, but from an basic guess, some where around 3200. I will know more when I find my chrony and run a few accross it.

the neck on the chamber is : .2545, the loaded dummy round was at .2525. So I cleaned the necks up 2 thou a side. The OAL is 2.420

Calling for winds to be 10-20 out of the south today, that will be a full value wind at the range. I am going to do some load testing today anyway at 600. It is supposed to cool off again for several days after today, so I need to take advantage of the warmer temps.

Randy,
I have always been interested in that round, you and I have talked about it on the phone, I am very curious how it will buck the wind? I want to build one in an 11# gun for 1000 yard competition.
Wayne.

Wayne,

The JBM is calling for 5.9 moa in a full value 20MPH wind @ 600 yards. This with the temp @ 75 degrees, humitity @ 30.06 and the elevation set @ 920 feet above sea level. Right now the wind isn't too bad as I write this, southerly 4-5 mph here at the house, I expect it to get stronger as the day warms up. Oh the speed I calculated that at was 3200 fps at the muzzle. We will see how far off I am!

Wayne,

I was running 4.0 moa right, in a 15mph full value wind. The accuracy load is;

Lapua 6br brass necked down to 22 cal, then neck turned to .249 on an expanded neck. Bullet is the Berger 90VLD moly coted, soft seated 10 thou in, powder 2000MR 32.4 grs and a Tula SRM primer. This load held flat line elevation @ 600 yards. I believe this is the one I will use.

Randy,
I am very excited about this, I have wanted to build one or a 22brx or Dasher for a couple years as an 11 lb 1000 yard br gun, I built a 6brx instead, now you have rekindled my interests, may call kiff today and get a ream coming! is this going to be replacing your .223 for competition or are you just adding this rifle to the lineup?
I was really impressed with what you were doing with the little .223 last year. At the end of the year had you settled on the 75 grain v-max or the 90 grain bergers, I believe you were using both but maybe was leaning towards the v-max, could you bring me up to speed on that as well please.
Wayne.

Wayne,

I settled on the Berger 90VLD, that pill is more versitle over the 75. And I am adding this one to the lineup for a Any/Any gun. I now have two 223's and they are shooting really good. So far I have been shooting the old bbl from last year, which was polished, set back an inch and rechambered for the 90's. I have won a palm match and come in second on a palma match, 448-26X on the win and 447-23X on the second place. The new 223 should out do the old one, it is going about 175 fps faster than the old one.

The 22BR is going 300fps faster over the new 223!

Randy,
Sounds good, if you think of it keep up to speed on how your doing with 22br, I hope very well, and thank you.
Wayne.

Wayne,

I will do it! Right now, as I have figured it on the JBM, it is saying that it is a 5.5 moa gun at 1K in the wind.
Well you can't beat that with a sharp stick ;) I hope it does that well for you that is pretty darn accurate!
Wayne.

Sunday will be the first time I will shoot it @ 1K, it is supposed to be a lil on the cool side. So we will see how it acts then.
