just got my PMA-A turner with 6mm carbide mandrel. I'm using the PMA expander and their lube to turn Lapua 6br brass. I'm turning the cases with a Sinclair case holder in an electric screwdriver at 200 rpm. I'm measuring case wall thickness with an RCBS ball mic.

About .0002 variation in thickness seems typical but sometimes up to .0004. Is this normal? Any tips for reducing variation further?

That's dam near perfect. Even at .0004", your talking dividing up an inch into 10,000 pieces and being off by only 4 of them. You'd need a high powdered Microscope to see that. This isn't astronaut/molecular science. Well Done!

I worked with Pat when Sinclair was still Sinclair. He knows customer service, he shoots and was schooled by Fred Sinclair. Both he and Matt. Good guys.

Old_dud, what did you change to solve your problem?

LOL, I'm an old dude, not an old dud. to answer, basically read the instructions. Since the knob seemed so precise I didn't even consider locking it down. That was Pat's recommendation after he questioned me. Since dialing in my setting and locking it in, two pieces have turned to within .0001.

I would expect nothing less from the good folks at PMA. That's why I use their turners, their cutters, their lube, their Case trimmers, an of course their expert advice.

Not sure if I need to blame myself for lack of attention to detail on your username or the spell check on my phone. I'll blame the phone!

Locking in the final setting is definitely a must. They can slowly creep away from the best setting if not careful.
