Neck sizing ?

I was reading this with intrest because I have started to notice several of my cases are thighter than the rest when closing the bolt. I have drawn lines on the case with a felt marker from top to bottom then chambered it and can not see anywhere its touching or binding.

I have trimed the cases so I know they are not to long and my other cases that will close smoothly are the same length. Should I be sizing them more?? I have one of RW3s 6BRXFL dies. Thanks guys!!

Raptor,
How far are you bumping the shoulder?
Wayne.

And check to make sure that the primers are seated all the way and squarely seated in these cases. Often overlooked. WD

Not sure on how far the shoulder is being bumped if any at this point. I set the die up so when the bolt closed on a empty case I felt just a slight drag. Maybe with the brass being just fireformed I may not be sizing it quite enough. I will check that tonight.

Wayne,
I also checke it without the primer, still snug. I think I may need to readjust the die. Thanks guys!

Raptor,
It sounds like you have a shoulder bump problem, get the primers out of some of your cases without sizing the case, also if you have maybe a .38 special or similar pistol cartridge case knock the primer out of it, I am assuming you don't have tools to measure shoulder bump, take the pistol case and put the mouth of it on the shoulder of the 6brx case take your calipers and take a measurement, take several measurements to make sure it is correct, now set up your bump die and run a case in it recheck the shoulder measurement until you have moved the shoulder approximately .001 it is a simple tool but it will work in a pinch, if you have the tools to pull your firing pin and ejector out of your bolt do so then chamber a empty case and see how it feels the bolt probably won't drop at all, start sizing a little at a time until the bolt will drop half way on it's own and just slight resistance to finish closing it from there, when you get to that point lock your die down your there, either way will work but you should order a set of bump gauges or a Larry Willis digital headspace gauge, hope this helps some.

Thanks Wayne for the ideas. I have a gauge that came with my 6XC dies I may be able to make work.

I did screw my die down about a 1/4 turn last night and ran my load testing cases through with it set lower. I went out and shot at 400yds off the hood of my pickup and managed a 1.5" and a 2" group with 33.4grs of Varget and the 107MKs. I had a load of 33grs of RL15 that also shot a 1.5" group but I know its going to be on the slower side.

Both Varget loads had only a vertical of .7 or less and I was fighting a 5 to 8mph full value wind. The 2" group had around a .5 vertical with the group being nearly in a string across the target. I also have a near 3lb trigger which doesn't help.

With the Wolf small rifle magnum primers my primer issue has been resolved too. THanks for all the help!!!!

I use 33.5 Grains of Varget with 105H @ around 3050 fps so your right in there with the 33.4 but I don't know why you think the 33.0 grains of 15 would be slow, it's a little hotter powder, you should be in the same speed range with that charge and maybe even a little more, glad it is starting to pan out for you, best of luck.

Wayne,
Looks like I am moving the shoulder back about .0015 to maybe .002 I checked it at noon. My smith had chambered a piece of barrel the same as my 6XC so I could use it to set my bullet deapth and that worked like a charm to measure off of. Thanks again!!
