Nebraska State F-Class match 8/27/2016

Rod, I wouldn't be surprised if someone "finds" it in their range box...right after the match is over ;). No way to know how useful one will be Saturday, but you're welcome to use mine if we're on the same relay.

I can't be out there Friday, sorry. Hopefully someone else can step up. Right now, conditions aren't looking so great for Friday, thunderstorms predicted most of the afternoon/evening. Being out at the range if there's lightning probably isn't such a great idea. Good luck.

Gstaylorg - You ok up there with those recent storms?

Well this ought to be interesting. Brand new rifle. 20 rounds of fire forming through it. Will be fire forming during match. Zeroed at 300 with 162 amax (shooting 180 hybrids this weekend). No 600 yd range close to get a 600 yd zero before the match. No idea what velocity I'll be running. And 4 sighters. 4. And no access to a range I've never even seen before the match. In it to win it.

shawnmcd - you won't be alone, probably a number of folks will need to "guesstimate" their 600 yd zero. I would personally prefer sighters to be "Unlimited/2/2" for a 3x20@600 yd MR match, but that's not how they do it here. At 600 yd, the first sighter might be out from the center a ways, but hopefully it shouldn't be off the paper.

Rod - we had lots of rain night before last and a great lighting show, but the lightning was almost all cloud-to-cloud, so it wasn't much of an issue. There was a flash flood watch, but I wasn't out in it and the downtown area drains rather well. Plus, I'm on the 4th floor, so it would really have to be an "epic" flood (think "Noah") to reach my place ;). I just just hope the storms hold off for Saturday. It's looking a little iffy right now. If the weather will just hold off starting around 8-9:00 am or so, I think we'll be able to get the match in. Fingers crossed!

I'd be ok had I been shooting the same bullets when I got my 300 while fire forming. I'd have a general idea. Maybe I'll be on paper.

The most important formula in the world
when going from 300 to 600
from Ryan Schlitz post series - Implied B'S
where A=300 and B=600 assuming a MV of 2800 FPS
[A/(B/100]x[1+(A/B)] resulting value in inches
Subtract 1 MOA (6 inches) for every 100 FPS MV over 2800 FPS
with 4 sighters you should be able to avoid the dreaded, 9 one on.
Ryan doesn't always use this formula,
but when he does
he's been drinking DosXX

I think I'll be ok. But I'm going from 300 to 600 with two different bullets with no idea as to what MV is as this is a brand new build and I have done nothing with it. I've fire formed in every barrel with the same load, but never bothered to chrono the reduced load. Good thing is, I shouldn't be disappointed at the end of the day. My past guns have usually done pretty well fire forming.

Notice to participants - I hope everyone sees this in time...the entrance to the range has moved slightly east of where it was last year. The street number is 12700, and the new entrance is just west of the cemetery. If you're heading west, it's right after the cemetery. If you're heading east and you pass the cemetery, you've gone just past it. Just follow the gravel road and you'll eventually come right to the 600 yd range.

Rod, if you are eating fiber bars enmass before that match, there may actually be another spot opening up as I've heard about the devastation unleashed and my not wish to be in the "blast radius"....;)

You guys are going to spend more time in the shooter than on the firing line

I would think if you dialed up 10 and a half minutes you're going to be on paper
