I have to be the odd man out...I'm going to say, first thing..I'm glad you guys like the plastic & stainless Tikka rifle...Sako invested heavily many years ago to build a rifle around a pretty expensive barrel..The tooling to create that wonder in the late fifties & early sixties was revolutionary.. Over the years I've owned & fired maybe a dozen really nice older Sako's ..The triggers, fit, finish & the out of the box accuracy has always been outstanding...That said, If I see an old, used, but not abused Sako I'm going to grab that rifle rather than spend the same money on a new Tikka....Flame Away...Mike in Ct

I heartily agree. I look for the older guns, first. With the Tikkas, I like the 595s because it’s a flat bottom action like a Panda. Anymore, I’m looking for the action and trigger for a project. I build a nicer wood stock for it and shoot it. If the barrel’s in good shape, I’ll stop there. Remember that most guns owned by the “general public” only get shot a few times a year. Sometimes I get a cooked 22-250 but in other cartridges, not so much. There’s a few on Gunbroker, right now.

For those that don't like the Tikka plastic stocks (it seems no one does) they make a laminated wood model and 2 models with walnut. The .308 they make that is the same that the Mounties issue looks mighty interesting too.

Yes I have a plastic and a laminate, the laminate feels a lil sturdier but the plastic shoots just as well.

The wood stocks are much nicer, but I would rather take the plastic stock hunting with me. My Creedmoor is fluted stainless and plastic, so it is better equipped to handle the elements. Fully loaded with 9x scope mounted, it only weighs 7.5 lbs. Not the best for BR shooting, but great for hiking through the woods. Nice looking stock Josh.

I might have a factory stock in the near future available. I am having a stock made for my T3x LITE in 270 Win. I just had it re-barreled by Pac-Nor with the same contour that the factory barrel had.
It might be a month until my new stock will be made, if you can wait that long.

I had a thought and checked it with some spare hardware. The T3x bottom metal is wider than the t3 and doesn’t fit. It’s about 1/4” wider at the fattest. If you need the T3x, I’d take 370bc’s offer. I wouldn’t even try to to re-inlet one of these plastic stocks. You can have it if you’re going to use it. If money is tight for you, it’s free. If not, make a small donation to the forum and I’m happy.

370bc thanks for the offer, I thought the T3 and t3x were the same but sounds like I was wrong about that and the bottom hardware is different.
