My first tikka

I wanted a light pack rifle that is reasonably accurate with a decent trigger that I didn’t have to spend a fortune on (I already do that on target rifles!). I had read good reviews on Tikka and I decided to give them a try, well I am glad I did. I picked up a used win mag and it is shooting great out to 500 but the surprise was its doing it with factory ammo. So I am thinking this rifle is a fluke so I traded around and ended up with a 300wsm, by all indications it is going to shoot just as good. So far I am a happy Tikka owner and they don’t break the bank!

In a few weeks taking my 20yr old 695 win mag on a cow elk hunt. Great trigger and smooth action. I added a large aftermarket bolt handle to achieve better clearance with my large hands, and just this year a Boyds tac style stock since I always try to shoot prone. My best rifle value ever!
 
I have three - a 223 Rem, 234 Win, and a 308 Win. in the T3 Lite. All shoot great with tailored reloads. All function flawlessly. Don't think you can go wrong with a Tikka.

My only complaint is the recoil with full loads in the 308. I solved that problem by developing a reduce power load using 125 Nosler BT's and H4895.
 
I bought my first rifle in March 2018. It was a Tikka T3 Lite in .223 on clearance for $278, and it is such a good rifle that I want to compete with it. Then in June, I bought my second rifle. It was a Tikka T3x Lite in 6.5 Creedmoor, and it shoots just as accurately with quality factory ammo. After interacting with several other shooting addicts and firing several other brands and calibers, I can say that Tikka has the best trigger and bolt action of any factory rifle in its price range that I have experienced. I'm a novice, and both rifles shoot under MOA with the right factory ammo. I can't wait to see what they can do with developed hand loads.

I’ve been sitting on this but maybe now is a good time to mention it. I took my Tikka CTRx in 6.5 Creedmore out of it’s box and shot it, starting load development. After cleaning, I did my usual borescope inspection. The Bore was one of the smoothest I’ve seen, on par with my customs. No voids, pits, chatter marks, nothing. It was a pleasant surprise. I don’t know where they get their steel but this barrel is top shelf.

Tikka Performance/Mountain Tactical has a Tikka Varmint HV 24 inch chambered in 6.5 on sale for $849 I believe.
Really hard to find and great shooters also.

Try 44.2 gr of RL-15 under a 168 A max .010 off the lands
Just a bit warm ;)
 
I bought a tikka t3 hunter in 7mm, gun is awesome, I shoot the berger 168’s through it and it’s a 1/2 moa gun with hand loads as long as I do my part.
 
I have to be the odd man out...I'm going to say, first thing..I'm glad you guys like the plastic & stainless Tikka rifle...Sako invested heavily many years ago to build a rifle around a pretty expensive barrel..The tooling to create that wonder in the late fifties & early sixties was revolutionary.. Over the years I've owned & fired maybe a dozen really nice older Sako's ..The triggers, fit, finish & the out of the box accuracy has always been outstanding...That said, If I see an old, used, but not abused Sako I'm going to grab that rifle rather than spend the same money on a new Tikka....Flame Away...Mike in Ct

Thanks SPJ for the tip but Dang i just paid WA state 83.00 bucks and blew my shooting budget all to heck.:confused::D but i still got that series 70 GC:) to shoot
