My first joystick - it is cheating!

Is it a situation where you can’t use a full on rest?
Can carry it around with 2 fingers instead of a forklift for a conventional rest. My smith friend holds all the club records at 78 yrs old using that rest, both in 50 and 100 yd 22, 200yd BR and 300yd F class. Last week he shot a 400 37x at 300 yds using it so until i get to that level I wont blame the rest! lol

Agreed. Id hafta learn how to use it. :)

I have always shot on a bench squeezing the rear bag, of some sort, for the final adjustment. For repetitive accuracy I always figured it was about a 50/50 for the mechanical vs the human form factor to be able to plant bullets one on top of each other to a count of 10 or 20 in a minimal wind scenario. You really have to bring on your 'A game' to be able to do this, and that is the challenge which for me is equally as frustrating as rewarding!

I swapped from chassis to wood ( in pic) and also to that front rest over an Atlas. Completely diff game now. I am just getting started but it seems to me like the ratio has now changed to 90% mechanical and 10% human. In a no wind scenario i can now set an accuracy baseline for my load and barrel. When I tried it out I was shooting very consistently and then chambered a round that for some reason hadn't head spaced properly and which i could feel when closing the bolt. When I fired it the bullet landed higher and to the right of the others. Pretty neat to be able to see this because with squeeze bag and more body contact I wouldn't have known if I had caused the aberration or it was the round.

I still have my MPA chassis and Atlas so can swap back easily if I want more challenge on top of the wind. Or not!

ps. should note IMO that the joystick enables you to finalize the aiming without creating inconsistent recoil interference by adjusting the rear bag.

Sinclair makes some thick Gel pads that work real well. Under those I use a foam locking squares. It's cut to fit my concrete shooting top.

Show us a target!
Got out today for test run with some decent ammo. The joy stick taking some practice on how to hold it as it can interfere with recoil ( couple of flyers out of 10 ring) and also figured out it needs to be close to center of adjustment when locking onto to bulls. Here's best strings where I shot as fast as i could set up for next shot, which took about 20 sec per. Atleast all a shade under a moa in 10 ring at 300yds. I will get better with more practice - still feels a bit awkward. New stock new rest diff grip to engage trigger (now thumbhole). Plus a little tuner tweaking to do as barrel is shorter ( I had it cut down and re-chambered)

I’d be pretty thrilled with a target like that at 300yds!

Very nice!
